Yeah, sure, this thread is about what a loathsome human being I am. You are actually making a strong case for something else.
Let me guess. Genocide?
I Deny that.
One other thing you’re wrong about, since I never said that. This thread is mocking your ludicrous misuse of the term “genocide”.
Although we could shift the focus if you like. Just let us know.
That isn’t the title of the thread. The OP is more about how I’m passive-aggressive, he doesn’t totally disagree with me, but thinks “genocide denial” is over the top.
Well that certainly would be better than mocking the deaths of Palestinians as Kinthalis has pointed out. You guys might think that is funny, but it makes you look, well, like you guys.
No, it makes you wrong yet again. No one is mocking Palestinian deaths. They are mocking YOU and your nutty views.
Well then, in my nutty view, you are doing it wrong. Sober up and give it an effort worthy of your education and try really hard not to make it look like you are mocking Palestinian deaths. Those watching can’t tell the difference when you do it that way.
No, YOU can’t tell the difference. That’s because you’re stupid and bad at discussing complex issues. The Palestinians would be far better off if you never spoke about them ever again.
Any Palestinians here feel that way? Any Palestinians here feel that what is going on is not genocide? Anyone? Bueller? Do we even have one Palestinian on our board? Well, why the fuck not? Who here does advocate for the Palestinians. I do not claim that role, I’m criticizing Israel.
Since when did you start speaking for the Palestinians? Asshole.
Just as an aside amidst the genocide denial: The US recognizes that Cuba and Iran are nations. It just has economic sanctions against both.
wait. what? How am I mispelling his name? I thought tomndebb = tom n debb. is tom n debb insulting or derogatory somehow?
There are really only one or two moderators that I think engages in biased moderation of Israel threads. I doubt they even realize they are being biased but there is a habit of moderating critics of Israel almost immediately (and frequently with warnings) and moderating Israel apologists only after the Israel critics have reacted in kind so that the moderator can say something along the lines of “everyone cut it out, I won’t give anyone a warning this time”
I’m not speaking for the Palestinians, dumb dumb. Think of it this way: if I see you out on the basketball court, running up and down with a trash can stuck on one foot and dribbling the ball against your face, I don’t have to be a scout for the Lakers to tell you the NBA would be better off without you.
Bias and/or hatred of Palestinians is pretty standard for Americans and the American media and public discourse. Whether they realize it or not. There is a large contingent here on the SDMB that refuses to attribute any bias sort of motives (and what that implies) to any of their favored persons/factions implying only a clear and outright confession would let you know what is in their mind and heart. This contingent strongly argues that you cannot draw any inferences of conclusions on the way they weigh evidence and credibility of others and between groups. Five years ago John Mace was a huge offender in this regard, he has mellowed somewhat in saying that such and such evidence doesn’t warrant the obvious conclusion, but has substituted “untrue, nuts etc.” ad hominems instead of weighing every inference in favor of nobody can know anything. If he were Socrates, I’d say he was getting senile.
It took the US only about 10 years to fully comprehend how utterly fucked up our Vietnam policy and war was, and even then part of the population was, and remains, in complete denial. It’s been five decades since the 1967 war and UN resolution 242, and we are still, as a population as a whole, fooling ourselves about what we are funding.
When some of the Palestinians insist on attacking civilians in terror attacks or military style rocket attacks on civilians (and as an aside Israeli military) that hurts everyone, and when the call for wiping out Israel along with that, it is a genocide crime. It cannot possibly have any positive effect on the population as a whole and serves as another round in a vicious circle of violence that falls on the civilian population. And the Israelis respond all out of proportion killing non-combatants, destroying homes en mass. The violence only helps the factions (on both sides) that have their position strengthened by the other side’s acts of violence. If the people of Gaza had a Ghandi figure, that would be helpful, assuming he wouldn’t be assassinated immediately. Hamas isn’t going to disarm, as that would probably mean certain death at the hands of their rivals.
Meanwhile, most of the poster here at SDMB scoff at the idea that the long history of facts fulfill the criteria for genocide or even provide probable cause for considering that a prolonged (five decades) course of reducing Palestinian land, population and housing.
As for moderators, we aren’t really supposed to discuss board moderation in this forum, so at least while I have that rule in mind, I’m going to respect it.
Now you are a scout for the Lakers? If I were an advisor for the Lakers, I would tell them to trade Kobe Bryant and re affiliate with Jerry West and rebuild the team.
You keep dribbling.
Are you even trying to make sense anymore?
LOL.
TSS, I’m really curious and I’m ready to be amused by you. Cite, please?
A corrective distinction which I welcome and thank you. Cuba and Iran are indeed nations that the US does not have diplomatic relations with, but does deal with indirectly as nations. There is no exchange of ambassadors or formal ties. In the case of Cuba out of fit of pique, and with Iran because of the 1979-1981 hostages thing. But they are nations because virtually every nation in the world (that can afford to) does engage in ambassador exchanges with them and have regular dealings.
The US (and no major country that I am aware of) recognize the West Bank or Gaza as a nation. Therefore they are not nations.
