Congratulations!!! I have a couple of friends (a lesbian couple) that had a baby recently. He is beautiful and wonderful. They are both great with him; a very happy family. You will enjoy being a parent, the challenges are worth it (from what I hear). They are already planning another child.
Anyway, congrats from me and Tygr.
Tiburon, Our friends went to a clinic. They chose a sperm donor from profiles. The healthier of the two women was fertilized with the sperm.
We met over the net. She lives in the States and I live in the Great White North. I went to spend the summer with her, travelling with my sister when she did the same thing.
I tried to cross the border to see her in October on the train, but a misprint on my ticket meant that I was not allowed to cross. They left me at the Canada customs office in Niagra Falls with zero regard for whether I was able to make my way home from there.
As for getting on a plane, if I had the money for a last-minute ticket during Christmastime, I wouldn’t be sitting in Canada, that’s for damn sure!
This is very painful for me. In fact, I think I am going to go cry right now.

Pixie - I don’t know if you celebrate Christmas or not, but if you do, don’t combine his birthday and the holiday. My dad’s birthday is December 25th, and you know, growing up it was really confusing that EVERYONE got the day off for my dad’s birthday.
No worries, Crunchy frog. I don’t celebrate Christmas (Yule, actually), and even if I did, I wouldn’t dream of combining his birthday with Yule.
That is just tacky and insensitive.
My cousin was born on Dec. 24, and we always throw him a birthday party, with birthday-themed wrapping paper and a cake and NO talking about Christmas! So I know how it goes.

Just checking. We always celebrated my dad’s birthday a week or two before the holiday, so my sister and I didn’t get confused. We still do it now, even though my sister and can make the distinction between the two events, it’s just become tradition to try to surprise him every year. I do remember wondering why people made such a fuss over my dad’s birthday tough. My mom explained it to me when I was 6 or so.
Anyway, congratulations again and I hope the next couple weeks fly by for you!
