I understand that. It’s just that his choice of phrasing makes it seem like that’s what he really thinks. I read between the lines.
Was it the guy before Snow who left saying he wanted to spend more time with his family, he has kids in college, etc., and Jon Stewart’s comment was, “Yeah, that’s just what you do when you have kids to put through college: quit your job without anything else lined up.”
$170,000, in absolute terms, may seem like a lot of money.
But I’d need ten times that pay in order to shuck and jive every night for the Bush administration.
Tony is sick of shucking and jiving for peanuts, yall.
I thought Snow had made this announcement weeks ago.
In what universe is someone of Tony Snow’s position and financial means paying for all of his cancer treatment out of his own pocket? I may be wrong, but my assumption is that he would have pretty damn good health insurance.
This doesn’t change the fact that he has a right to resign whenever he wants to, and that he also has the right to seek out higher income if he wants or needs more money. But people in this thread seem to be assuming that he’s handing over cash for every single aspect of his treatment, and i doubt that’s the case.
I think the real injustice was the way they held a gun to his head and forced him to leave FOX and take the White House job.
I think the real injustice is that numbnuts who post out their ass aren’t pelted with spit balls. I don’t like Bush. I don’t like Snow. I could give a rats ass how much Snow makes a year. I never said he was forced to work at the White House or that I thought it was unfair that he resigned from FoxNews. I was simply commenting on what I perceived to be the erroneous conclusion that money could not have been the reason he was leaving since he was making all of $168k per (as if that were a king’s ransom). I don’t know why you’ve got turds clinging to your ass hair but for chrissakes project your pseudo sarcastic bile elsewhere
And cancer treatments are pretty damned expensive. Depending on how long he’s had cancer and the insurance he has, he may have already hit the cap on his insurance.
If he does the whole public-speaking thing, what kind of insurance does that provide? What insurance will take him now that he’s got a pre-existing condition? Does he keep the government insurance even though he resigned?
That’s not what I said (or at least, I was trying to avoid saying that). I’m surprised that he didn’t cite his health as his reason for leaving. Perhaps I wasn’t clear.
Sorry, then. I took this:
to mean just that. That “quitting for the money” wasn’t credible given the salary.
It wasn’t pseudo sarcastic at all; it was actually sarcastic. And as far as i can tell, you are nowhere to be found in my ass hair.
No it wasn’t, sarcasm is funny.
. . . and that last part, isn’t that just a variant of “I know you are, but what am I?” Bravo, sir. Bravo.
not sure I agree with you, but operating under a definition of sarcasm that would exclude wit, I concede – I will henceforth refer to your unfunny post as sarcasm*
I’m really glad someone else said this - I thought I was living in the Twilight Zone. Oh yeah, it was here .
Outstanding!
And i will take the author of the asterisk into account, and exhibit the appropriate amount of indifference. Everyone’s happy.
will you let me get the last word?
Word!
musing I wonder if he’s seen Sicko.
Scoop? Is this a message board, a newsroom or a bunch of Daily Kos impersonators keeping tabs on who has the honor of posting the most mundane info first? A man who’s a mouthpiece for a very unpopular & bumbling administration is quitting to earn a few bucks for his family before he succumbs to cancer, how does this effect anyone?
Rilchiam pasted a link deep in the Rove thread 2 weeks ago yesterday. That’s obviously not the ideal venue for such Earth-shattering news. After this, ‘Hey everyone, a shill for the White House resigns for medical reasons’ thread runs its course, we can take our pick of starting new pits threads for:
- The Oncologist who dared treat such worthless scum
- Faux News or his editorial syndicator for hiring him back
- Stomach cancer itself for being less fatal than pancreatic cancer
- The vultures who missed the opportunity to tear the rotting flesh from Snow’s corpse because he was creamated
[QUOTE=Nutty Bunny]
I don’t see a reason to Pit Snow, except that he was a part of the Bush propoganda machine.
I was just reading about this myself and had to chuckle when I got to this gem about his replacement,
Bush said the 35-year-old Perino was “a smart, capable person who is able to spell out the issues of the day in a way that people listening on TV can understand. She can handle you all.”
What he meant to say was, “I understood her, so I guess you will too.” How is that such a shit for brains thinks he’s so smart?
