Too Damn Hot or Not Hot Enough: July Minirants

Seriously, Milwaukee, could we pick some fucking weather? You’ve been two months behind for most of spring and summer, and now today we’re supposed to jump straight to the upper 90s.

In other news of things not worthy of their own thread, what the fuck is wrong with etv78? There’s a perfectly nice thread going in MPSIMS about how stupid work potlucks are, and he waltzes in to tell the person who was annoyed at effectively being required to take time on their weekend to go to a party at an executive’s house that he doesn’t understand what the problem is, and they should just suck it up and go, because asskissing is part of having a job. He then proceeds to make this same point over, and over, and over, oblivious to the fact that we all *know *this, but we think it’s stupid. I think the thread is just ignoring him now, though, which I hope continues.

He’s done that before in a similar thread. He seems to think there is no middle ground between “suck it up and do everything your boss tells you to do” and “get fired”. He doesn’t seem to realize sometimes you can toe the line.

Albany weather has just been weird. We had some 90 degree weather, but also lots of cool, rain days. Make up your mind!

We’re just finally getting summer weather here. Usually, we start hitting these temps in very late May.

Plenty hot here in Vegas.

Fortunately for me I sell auto parts.

SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!

I have vague memories of what that must be like. :frowning:

Well, he is the same etv78 who thinks stoopid management inflicted team building exercises are wonderful.

Oh, he’s *that *guy? I should really make a mental note going forward. Honestly, given the attitudes he’s displayed here, I’m surprised he’s doing anything but being a busy little worker bee during business hours.

… Actually, no, wait, that makes *perfect *sense. He’s probably one of those fabulously hypocritical, incompetent, and oblivious HR drones. Which would explain a hell of a lot.

That’s the bunny!

Looks like he’s now all sad that we’ve just decided the best course of action is to ignore him and is trying to stir us up again. Please stick with the shunning! Maybe he’ll go away.

Dammit. Sorry, I just replied to him and then wandered over here to … bitch about him some more, I guess. Probably not the brightest thing I’ve done today. Anyway, thanks for the link, tomato - that clears up a LOT.

Haha, I just gave you a sadface in the potluck thread for responding to him.

It’s been below average temperatures around here…until this weekend. Predicted triple digits tomorrow through Monday. We’ve stocked up on beer and soda, laid in a ton of ice, picked up extra propane for the grill and are just going to ride it out in an alcoholic haze.

That sounds fairly awesome. Can I come over to your place?

That’s how you get through a single weekend of triple digits? On behalf of your liver, may I advise you to never move to Texas. Or Arizona. Or … oh, hell, you should probably just stay north of the Mason-Dixon line.

looks at silenus’s location tag

Uh-oh.

Hell, that’s how I ride out the whole summer!
Don’t try this yourselves, kids. I’m a professional.

Yay, my selective memory is finally good for something! Now if I could just remember what the hell I thought of this morning that I had to get at the grocery store on my way home…

I’m the ONLY person at my workplace today. Well, someone has to stay and answer the phones and tell them we’re not open, right?

Anyway, I stopped at a Blockbuster Express on the way in this morning and rented two movies to make my day go a little faster. The first movie freezes up 5 minutes in. The second movie freezes half way through. I don’t know why I’m being punished…

Ugh. I don’t feel well. My stomach is acting up and I have a yeast infection . School just ended two days ago and I’ve spent the beginning of my short 10 days off sleeping and wanting to puke. Next session will be tough with 3 classes crammed into 5 weeks. I need to rest but being sick isn’t restful.

My boyfriend is on chicken pox alert. His dad has shingles, which isn’t contagious as shingles but is as chicken pox. If he makes it through this he’s getting vaccinated whether he wants to or not. He’s 38 friggen years old. That’s too damn old for chicken pox.

Why is it that one A- is enough to drop my GPA from a 4.0 to a 3.97 but 2 additional A’s only brings it up to a 3.978? That seems a bit unfair. They don’t round up either, fuckers. I’m going to need to get A’s on all 3 classes next session just to get back over a 3.98. Yes, I realize this is a painfully stupid gripe but I’m obsessed and I can’t help it.
On the plus side, the 6 textbooks that I need for 3 classes next session will only cost me $55. My spanish professor is using the same books for 112 that he used for 111. My botony and sociology books are rentable so I’m renting them until September for $45 plus shipping.

Because you got a DVD from Blockbuster. Are you playing it on a Betamax machine, grandpa?

Uuuuuugh, worstest ever. I haven’t had one in years, and I hope I never do again. Hope it clears up quickly. :frowning:

Because math. Sorry.

Bitch stuck me with eleven cardiac patients. I DON’T HAVE THE TIME FOR ELEVEN!
