Too much deleted in a GQ thread.

I was reading the General Questions thread about making money while surfing the web. http://www.straightdope.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/003242.html

Contestant 3 posted an interesting reply that told how he had a good experience with it and it worked well for him. He also mentioned the site he gains access to it from.

Nick deleted his entire post, I suppose because he posted the website. Now, I know it is possible to edit a post. Why did the entire post have to be deleted? Its not like C3 posted a new topic just to get people to go there, he was answering a question. The deleting of the link makes plenty of sense, but the entire post? I don’t understand that at all. Overkill.

Of course I agree, but to test the honor of Nickrz’s enforcement values, I’ve sent him 4 examples of other links to commercial sites found easily with some threads in GQ.

Contestant #3, if you want to make money off the Teeming Millions, that’s your business, but you’re not going to do it here.

Spam, Ponzi games, pyramid schemes and multi-level marketing are not allowed on this site.

There is a world of difference between a website link placed for informational purposes and what you’re attempting to do here and for you to attempt to class yourself with these examples is wrong headed and just plain wrong.

If you really want to have your business here, I suggest you first get a legitimate one and then contact the Chicago Reader Advertising Department to book some banner space.
