Starting time roughly 10 am (more realistically noon).
Nobody is required to bring anything but food, drink, utensils, napkins, and geeky games (Fluxx, Chrononauts, anything by Cheap Ass Games) are all well received.
In addition to directions and time which you now have, phall0106, 15 July is the event date.
I have both a large ice chest and a 5 gallon dispooler (or is it coopenser?) which I can shlep.
I have one of those big orange drink things, like you see on construction trucks, and such. (Orange, like the thing is orange, you can put purple or green drink into it, of course. I had planned on bringing it, with ice. I will forgo putting the dreaded Kimche into it, if someone wants to bring some drink to put in it.
I have those cone shaped paper cups, too, but so far they haven’t been used up in two previous fests. (They are pretty useless.)
I am thinking of bringing olives, to go along side of the Kimche.

Not if you’re worried about your drink being poisoned. or if you want to do arts and crafts, or if you feel like recreating Madonna’s early years.
I have not yet e-mailed Ben or Trisk. It turns out I have a non-Doper buddy who might want to tag along, and if so, he’ll be driving the two of us up. I won’t know until tomorrow (roughly) if he’s coming or not, so I will post again then.

Don’t know about the lemonade on Doctor Who. It was, however, the lemonade I had while on my trip in the UK, and I love it very much.
Okay, so my non-Doper buddy has decided to tag along, and will be driving the two of us up there. We may bring a third, former Doper buddy, but she hasn’t committed yet, and probably won’t until day before or so.

I’d say we’d bring them, but there just won’t be room in our vehicular unit for them. Guess this means you’ll have to visit again before the Fest. Ah, darn! Life’s rough! 
Ok… Really stupid question, but here goes…
Would it be a good idea for me to bring stickers for name tags? (just blank white - not those “MY NAME IS ______________” type… ) I’ve met only a small handfull of Dopers IRL and it might be nice to have…
But some might think it unnecessary, annoying, or geeky, so I’ll go with the group on it. I have tons of labels, so I thought I’d ask.
As of today, it looks like I’ll be able to hook up with Twix and drive out to Gettysburg with her on Saturday, after stopping to pick up approximately twice the amount of chazerai that she was planning to supply by her lonesome self, if that’s okay with all you chazerai-fans out there in Gettysburg.
Not stupid at all. Nametags are very helpful at fests. But it’s been established on the previous page that Antares JB will be bringing name tags, and pens, markers, etc. to fill them out with.

I’m not too far from Gettysburg, but I’ve never been to any Doper fests, or for that matter, ever met anyone in person that I’ve met online. Anyone care to briefly summarize how all this works for a newbie? Is this invitation-only, or is anyone invited? Do you all already know each other? When is this being held again, and what do you do the whole time?
All Dopers are welcome, no invitations necessary (other than this thread itself). Most of us do already know each other, but that’s mostly because we’ve been to this (or other Dopefests) before. Mostly we know each other the same way you know us…through here.
It’s July 15, starting 10ish at the earliest and probably really kicking off after noon. We sit around and talk and play games and throw frisbees and smoke and knit and eat and complain about the heat and hope it doesn’t rain and coo over the babies and take pictures of kids playing in the mud. Not necessarily in that order.
You have to know the secret handshake to get in.
Just kidding.
Seriously, just show up. It’s kind of like a big picnic of sorts where you can finally meet the people that you otherwise only know my their user ID. Some people know each other, some don’t. I see a few names on the list I don’t recognize, and a lot that I only know from the previous two Gettysdopes, so you won’t feel out of place in a crowd or anything.
