Polling is closed. Thanks again to the Dopers who responded.
First: Results from The Jeff Beck poll from week #8.
Surprisingly low turnout…I guess even as great a guitarist as he is, he’s been relegated to the status of “forgotten about dinosaur.” Now history, we can now add it to the pile of[ul][li]The Band,[/li][li]Beach Boys, [/li][li]Beatles,[]Animals,[]Tori Amos,[]Allman Brothers, and[]Aerosmith. polls[/ul]All right, here are your Jeff Beck Picks: [/li]
First Place: Beck’s Bolero and Goin’ Down (1 Vote Live/2 Unspecified)…Tied with (a paltry) 3 votes each.
Honorable Mentions: (With 1 vote each):[ul] [li]All Shook Up []Black Cat Moan []Blue Wind / Train Kept A Rollin’ Segue (Live) []Blues Deluxe []Freeway Jam []Gets Us All In The End []I Ain’t Superstitious []Let Me Love You []Manic Depression []Morning Dew []People, Get Ready []Shapes of Things []The Pump You Shook Me[/ul]For the 1st time in the 6 at 6 poll’s history, we have a Minus 1 vote for: Hi Ho Silver Lining[/li]
Secondly: This weeks poll. The fifth of the “B” bands: The Beastie Boys. (Whether you consider them 3 lucky Jewish guys who were in the right place at the right time or artists who were ahead of their time; Vote (Once only though, this ain’t Chicago)…it only takes a second (provided you can list {up to} 6 tracks of theirs you like).
Once again, if you feel we’ve alphabetically passed over a band say so…if not, next week will feature Chuck Berry (who’s children are still out their playin’ his licks).
A small aside: I’m not at all biased toward today’s contemporary artists, it’s just in most cases their smaller sized discographies would make selecting 6 favorite tracks a rather difficult or daunting task.
On with the poll. Here are my 6 Beastie Boys picks:
- Remote Control
- Intergalactic
- Sabotage
- Girls
- No Sleep Till Brooklyn
- So What’cha Want
**Thanking you all in advance **
