Top Five Films You've Seen In The Past Month

  1. The Seventh Seal (Not Sign, dammit. I won’t watch that brat-pack piece of crap twice.)

  2. The General

  3. Dr. Strangelove

  4. Vanishing Point

  5. Fistful of Dollars

I have Sanjuro on deck, so I suspect this list might change soon.

Requium for a dream Jennifer Connelly is very special
Toy Story 2
Bamboozled
Almost Famous
Sleepy Hollow

Arbitrarily sticking with movies I’ve seen in theatres, I’ve only seen four movies in the last month (and actually it would be more like six weeks). From best to worst:

Almost Famous
The Cell
X-Men
Urban Legends 2

Toy Story 2
American Beauty
Three Kings
The Princess Bride-- I had seen this in the movies and loved it. There was a thread here about movie quotes (the one before the one on the first page now) that had Princess Bride quotes and my son said he didn’t remember it. Seemed like a good reason to rerent to me.

Excluding movies already seen

Scary Movie–best comedy ever.
**What lies beneath **–way better than The Sixth Sense, not as acclaimed though.
The Omen–I was born in 1976 too. Could I possibly be…? Nah!
U-571–would have been nicer had it included Bon Jovi’s song “It’s my life” in the soundtrack.
Ten things I hate about you–fun and entertaining.

The Nightmare Before Christmas
American Psycho
Casablanca
The Godfather
Reservoir Dogs

Don’t watch much TV, watch many movies (may the nonexistent god bless Netflix).

All About Eve (1950)
The Great Escape (1963)

Stalag 17 (1953)

Bottom five (worst to slightly better):

The Mod Squad (1999)
The Thin Red Line (1998)
Permanent Midnight (1998)
The 6th Day (2000)
Jurassic Park (1993)

In the middle (no order):

Last month? I’m not sure I’ve seen five films in the last six months.

Starting to feel terribly old and boring. And poor.

I watch too much news these days, not enought films.

I just saw Mel Gibson in “The Patriot”, good, fun, rousing film.

And, on Bravo, I saw “The Perez Family”. Liked that as well.

I cannot remember what else I’ve seen this month. It’s all a blur.

Same here. The last time I went to the movies was over a month ago.

Oh, you mean in the theatres? Shit, that requires effort. Getting dressed. Getting your shoes on. Getting in the car. Trying to make sure you get to the show in time. Phooey on that.

Besides, I have weird work hours. I rarely get to see theatrical films, only on my days off. And usually I’m too busy being a lazy bum for that.

I did see “Space Cowboys” and “American Beauty” in the theatres this year. Does that count?

The last movie I saw in the theater was Iron Giant. No, wait! I was at the premier of Star Wars: The First Boring Installment. I liked Iron Giant better.

I just saw Return of the Thin Man last night on PBS.
William Powell, Myrna Loy, and young Jimmy Stewart as the heavy. He’s lucky he didn’t get typecast!

Being the poor, busy college student that I am, my list of movies seen in the past month is a short one. Oddly enough though, today, when I should’ve been doing something, I saw a few good movies on TBS. Anyways, here’s my list…

Top Five:

  1. With Honors
  2. the Skulls
  3. Pretty Woman
  4. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
  5. Father of the Bride II
    (in a distant 6th: Goonies)

I know the movies are sorta lame. But I didn’t have much material to work with…

Here’s some of my recient viewing in no particular order.

Touch of Evil
Paths of Glory
Notorious
The Third Man
MST3K-Eegah
The Big Sleep
American Movie
Citizen Kane
Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolfe? (sp?)

Hmm… watched nothing recent in the last month. All of these I did see were good, though.

  1. Ridicule
  2. U-Turn
  3. American Graffiti
  4. Burnt By The Sun
  5. Strangers on a Train

In theatres? in the last 6 weeks:

  1. American Beauty (it takes time for movies to get to Japan. The better the movie, usually, the longer the lag)

  2. Gladiator

  3. Bedazzled (the new one. Fun, but the Peter Cook version was better)

  4. Taxi 2 (Predictable, stupid, but fun on a big screen. Plus everyone in the audience was laughing at the stupid Japanese stereotypes. Yep, ninjas on every corner. )

–sublight.

Sublight, is that the sequel to the french film Taxi? I saw that on video when I was in Marseilles this summer. It was pretty good, even if I didn’t get most of the dialogue. The car chase scenes were probably the best of any movie I’ve seen.

Fight Club
Idle Hands
Spinal Tap (I finally found a place that had it!)

there have been others but I can’t remmeber them now. But the worst would have to be MI2. ugh.
