THANK GAWD ALMIGHTY! I’m officially eligible and am getting the first dose of the vaccine tomorrow morning! Woo-hoo! An hour ago, I was assuming I wouldn’t be eligible until next week and maybe would get jabbed a month or so down the road. I got an email from UW, where I’ve been a patient, saying they were scheduling appointments for people who were supposedly going to become eligible on the 22nd. Long story short, I’m eligible. And somehow I snagged an appointment at a mass vaccination site tomorrow. A friend is going to drive me over.
I’ll be able to see my kids soon and can go home to Chicago to see my siblings this summer!
Afternoon all. Garbage and Recyclables have been taken to the curb for tomorrow, in between tunder-boomers. Not many dry spells today and the worst is yet to come according to the weather-folk. At least I have clean dishes now and spent 45 minutes in the tub (a shower is a shower, but a long, hot bath is a soak…
And did you know…
The Irish gave the bagpipes to the Scots as a joke…and the Scots still haven’t got the joke yet.
I agree with you re the masks hippy. I have no plans to scrap my stack any time soon.
Yay nellie! I’m still shopping around for a place with an opening. I may have to go out of county. Many of the rural (read red) counties in Tennessee are having issues with folks not wanting the vaccine. I’ll take one off their hands if I can get an appointment on the weekend.
Happy St. Patrick’s day! :raises a glass of Jameson’s and water:
I fixed bacon and cabbage for supper this evening. 'Twas yum!
I’m finally beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel from some of the extra irk. That’s a good thing, as my decrepit butt is dragging.
4:20, and I’m not high. But we’ve had corned beef and cabbage. Yum. Mrs. L.A. said, ‘This is so good!’ I had a snort of Jack’s and a bottle of Guinness with it. Might have some more (of the CB&C, not the Guinness).
Well, I did Italian chicken with orzo and asparagus for dinner. However I am having some Guinness.
And beer should be consumed withing a year or so. Not that it lasts that long in my fridge.
WOOHOO!
: does a shot of Tullamore Dew in celebration :
I received the second Pfizer two and a half weeks ago. Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) has not.
We received our stimulus money today. What in the hell are we going to spend $2,400 on? I bought the truck for $3,000, we don’t need another car. I can make a dent in it with aquarium fish and carnivorous plants, but folks who lost their jobs need this money more than we.
Perhaps I can pass out $100 bills to homeless people.
Tiring day at irk. Everyone else (but me) getting that sweet, sweet stimulus money & spending it like drunken sailors on shore leave. Long lines, many idiots without a pre-order, lots of people asking detailed questions about our multi-hundred-item inventory of the person standing in a parking lot scanning IDs all day. (That’d be me.)
Thank GAWD I threw a chunk o’cow and some veggies into my tiny little slow cooker before I left. At least I came back to a home that smelled of warm dinner.
HA! Thank you both for the best jokes I’ve heard/read in a while.
I approve! Sorry about the bullshit late-nite class. I’d be pissed, too.
Evening all. Storming all day but nothing severe around here. Putting the garbage cans out was a gamble I may regret if it gets real nasty tonight (might bring them back into the garage before heading to bed). BLT’s took care of dinner.
I’m keeping with the theme my sister did the DNA test which showed we hale from Wales and northern England mostly. My family name is Wales spelled a bit differently. My married and currrent name is a McC. So is that Scottish or Irish? As a kid, until I left home, potatoes we called “Irish potatoes”. I bet at least some went through that
Sorry for the wonky formatting. Typing on an IPad is noy easy to me.
Happy belated Nona.

My ancestors went through that time.
I was exhausted. Got home late due to road being shut down for an accident ( happen often). I had a beer and wasted one, though I never sleep in a chair I awoke from a long sleepage. This portends a night of nighy of rihjy time of sleep. That damn time change can go away. I like this one. Ether since it’s noy dark when Ip home fro irk which is getting irkier by the day.
Morning, mumpers! I was sooooo busy yesterday, I completely failed to show my face in here. Weather app says “Calm your tits, it’s not that fucking bad out” and promises me 6C/43F up to 10C/50F, cloudy with mist and fog. Fairly accurate, it’s misty this morning but nothing serious.
Belated happy nona day!
flyboy I am getting quite concerned about you, first it was the Vegemite blech and now Newkie Brown? Much more of this and I’ll be staging an intervention!
I’ve only got a smidgen of Irish in the family tree on my father’s side but I am English and we’re all mongrels anyway. We are also not Guinness drinkers, I don’t like the stuff and 'im indoors went off it after spending a year working in Ireland. Instead, we opted for Wychwood Brewery’s Dry Neck and Fire Catcher whilst watching a couple of films.
Right…better get on and do something productive, I’ve got a meeting in half an hour that requires some prep work.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 68 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a tornado watch, and a predicted high of 79 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse for the day. It’s supposed to get rainy anytime now and may last all day or just this mornin’. Howzzat for willy-nilliness on the part of TWPTB! No big plans for the day at all, so let it storm I say, Minus tornadoes, of course. Sloth and futzin’ about shall rule the day. Leftover corned beast 'n cabbage and veggies for tonight’s sup.
Woo Hoo for all the folks gettin’ jabs or appointments for jabs! Maybe by Summer (Winter for anybody in the southern hemisphere) we can have some kind of return to normal. Shall we cross appropriate/inappropriate appendages?
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Darlin’, you do need sleep, don’t you? FWIW, my Android tablet is a pain for posting here, but not as bad as my Android phone. Then again, my phone is almost as bottom-of-the-line as one can get. Hope you had a decent night of slumber.
The rain has begun - we can hear the patter on the roof quite clearly in our bedroom. That should make things interesting at the museum - if it’s not coming down in buckets, we’ll be fine, but if we need an umbrella, I’ll have to haul the toddler who will sorta hold the umbrella over one or both of us. Film at 11…
I finally got the details from FCD: his mom’s shoulder surgery is Apr 19, so we’ll drive down on the 17th or 18th. On surgery day, I’ll inventory their pantry and freezer, then make a list, do some shopping, and start cooking. While she’s laid up, I’ll be feeding all of us, plus I want to make sure they have a bunch of easy-to-heat-and-eat meals in the freezer. We’ll take some with us, but neither our freezer nor our cooler are big enough for a month’s worth of hot meals.
MIL’s youngest sister will come the first weekend in May (she’s in her mid-70s - baby of the family) and we’ll come back home. And unless Royal Caribbean cancels, we’ll be heading back to Tampa for a June 5 cruise to Key West and the Western Caribbean. That’s way more time than I want to spend in FL, but we do need the vacation. And if they do cancel, we’ll reschedule for next year, I guess.
Many of my veggie seedlings are coming up, but not the peppers or the grape 'maters. I think because the seeds were from a couple of seasons back, alas. So I’ll pick up a few more packs of seeds - still plenty of time to get them started. In fact, I think I can move my spider plants outside this weekend and put the seedlings into the greenhouse. From the long-term forecast, night freezes are done for the year. Dare I hope??
Morning all. Brought the garbage cans back inside the garage last night, so of course the bad weather stayed away and it’s clear outside now–from the weather map, looks like swampy is going to get the storm next. So cans are back at the curb. Supposed to only get to 60F or so today and the 50’s for the high this weekend.
Since the weather is promising, may make a braunsweiger run up to the store that carries it locally. Had stockpiled it back at Xmas time while visiting family in St. Louis, but finally ran out the day before the expiration date.
Don’t know if we’ll have soccer practice or not, they tend to close the fields the day after a heavy rain, even if there isn’t a drop in the sky…we’ll see.
FCM, good luck with the umbrella; looking at the national radar, I think you’ll need it.
boo fae, we’ll forgive you for not posting yesterday…this time…
Butters, your bypos are forgiven…but charming…
OK, need to plan for the journey out. Probably wait until nearer 9am to let the morning rush settle down. Take care all.
Congrats to you guys who have been jabbed or are pending a jabbing soon!
'Tis the start of spring break for the kiddos this evening. They are delighted but not quite as excited as they would be were we to actually be doing something. Instead they’ll be subjected to watching me work on my Big Thing.
Many of their friends are banding together in groups of families and renting houses various places (one of the groups of friends & parents has something like 20 people total vacationing together). I have to admit to fear of missing out - not that I was invited. I’m not part of that particular clique of parents. Anyway, I do miss traveling. Oh, well. We’re still planning on our jaunt to Hilton Head this summer.
Chugging coffee for now. It’s raining and I feel pretty good, but if I could just curl up in bed for the rest of the day I’d do it in a heartbeat.
