I’ve been eating Vegemite for almost four decades. Can’t stop now! As for the ale, I get it to make batter for fish. But I always have a lot leftover. Can’t let it go to waste! Anyway, I like it. (Full disclosure: I didn’t have any last night.)
jeez. I only had one beer I swear. My boss signed me up night before last for a class from 530-830 pm which ran long until 11 pm. I was extra exhausted. I shan’t be signed up for something I know nothing about only one day before. over it. Bypos is a good word.
Send it back to the government in the form of tax payment. That’s what we’ll end up doing.
Home from heaving(bags, not Guinness), sorting, and general running amoking.I managed to drag Gordie out, so maybe he won’t keep waking me up like he did yesterday.
“My phone’s otter corrupt is full of shirt”.
I get slighty more serious
I can forgive you then, I just hate to see people missing out on the delights of Marmite and settling for that inferior muck ![]()
Newcastle Brown has a very poor reputation in the UK and despite what furriners think, it’s rarely anyone’s drink of choice! Still, it’s good to see someone still has a use for a bottle of Dog.
I actually prefer vegemite, and go out of my way to buy it over marmite.
Anyone mind holding our coats?
I’ll pass on the Newkie Brown though. Ugh.
Anyway, it’s a damp, drizzly day off here. Shopping has been achieved- it does appear that price rises are starting to kick in, or maybe I just bought more expensive stuff than normal.
I plan to do more actual cooking this week than I have been doing- there’s just too many people here using a small, badly equipped kitchen. I rarely feel like doing more than bunging something frozen in the oven until it gets hot and/or brown and crispy. I’ll dig the slow cooker out tomorrow, maybe a squash, sweet potato 'n chickpea curry- I have the stuff needs using.
Vegemite is better.
Have you tried mass-market American beer?
(Actually, I’ve been tempted to buy a can of Coors, just to be masochistic. Or ironic.)
All of you are utterly charming. butters sent me off to bed with a smile and doggio just warmed up my morning.
I still believe that auto-correct is an elf living in your device who is sincerely trying with all his little heart to help you, but he’s very very drunk
Zoom funerals are odd. At least I still get 3 paid days off. I’ll consider that mental health break MIL’s final gift to me.
And his name is Murphy…
Shopping completed and clouds are moving in so soccer practice this afternoon is questionable (the Parks Department promises a decision by 4pm).
To the best of my knowledge, I’ve never tried either Vegemite or Marmite, so I have no opinion on that…on the other hand, I like ketchup on my hot dog, which is apparently considered a major crime by some…
{{Butters}}, hope today is better.
OK, some soccer to watch and keep checking on the field status (I have a hunch they’ll keep them closed). Take care all.
I just got home from the best party! OK, vaccination, but it was like a party! It was drive-through, so a friend took me. The route from entry point to jab point and beyond was staffed with volunteers showing us where to go, cheering, and fist-pumping. It was such a happy experience!
I really do feel like I’m getting sprung from prison soon. Is it sappy that i keep getting tears in my eyes? I’m just so grateful.
I’ve never tried either Vegemite or Marmite because people told me they were an acquired taste–acquired, they implied, at knifepoint. Now I’m curious, so I mite give one a try. ![]()
Just a few squillion of us, but we like you anyway.
Butters, bypos is my new favorite word.
I think Coors can legally be sold in Europe as bottled water.
I’m of the age where Coors was this sort of unobtainium thing available only if someone drove to Colorado and smuggled the stuff back to Chicago. It was craved only for its scarcity, not quality.
There are a couple bottles of Guinness in my drink fridge, just waiting for the day I have a desire to make beer bread or if a guest sees them and asks if they can have one. Well, that dates them… Otherwise, I just don’t drink beer.
Got our vaccinations yesterday. I was bombed by texts and phone calls from the county on the way home from the surgeon’s office on Monday. Once I figured out what they were trying to tell me, I hit the registration link and managed to get myself and PWAISDN signed up before they were sold out. Other than some ache at the injection site, I’m fine, but he got knocked sideways with a vertigo attack.
Dr. Google says about 16% of Moderna recipients report dizziness - vertigo should qualify for that. It’s so bad he had to reschedule his clients for today. Hopefully he can stand up tomorrow. I need to remind him to keep his schedule clear for the day after the second shot.
I cried like a damn baby when my mom got her first shot; when she was fully vaccinated we had a small celebration at my house. It was such a good feeling, not having to worry about her going to the grocery or the pharmacy and it felt like she was just one step closer to being able to make friends since her move here a year ago. So, even if it is sappy, you’ve got company.
Oh, thank you! And I’m glad you had a little celebration for your mom’s first shot. That’s so cool!
I just got back from Costco. I scored some more barramundi. Yay!!! just under 2.5 pounds, just under $25. Learning from the last pair of filets I bought, I cut them into six pieces and put them in three quart-size zip-top bags. They’re in the orifice freezer preparing for the long commute home.
I hope Mrs. L.A. likes Danishes. I got her a box of cherry ones, and when I went to check out I was told they were sold in units of two boxes. So I got her some almond ones. So she gets eight large pastries.
That’s what we’re doing, too, since we grossly underestimated our estimated taxes for last year. Dammit.
And I like ketchup on my hot dogs, so neener neener! ![]()
We only spent about an hour at the museum - Roxy seemed to be tired, as photos on my FB will attest. But she’s been pretty wound up since getting here. At the moment, tho, she’s have some apple slices and watching Gigantosaurus. I’ll need to rejoin her before she explodes from impatience! Kid cracks me up!!!

I like this interpretation!
Supposed to have three days off but { long story } I have a full 8hr shift tomorrow. Open, which I haven’t done in a while - cool, more dinner options available than aftera late night closing. ![]()
For today, I’m soaking up some glorious time off. Went to the Gettin’ Sto’ for a coupla things; came home with many things.
Got the kitchen somewhat cleaned up, and Pretzel has a thoroughly scrubbed and refilled water bowl. The kitties shared a tube of Squeezy Crack ™ and some catnip out on the driveway.
I have decided that I have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for chicken’n’rice somewhat like how Mom made it (rice = pilaf style) and have some thighs ready to roast.
I also have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for avocado pudding the way I grew up having it, Brazilian style with sugar (rather than salted, like guacamole) and have obtained three (3) avocados in the hopes that at least one will be decent.
I don’t have “avocado fingers” like some abuelitas.
I do, however, detect a theme in my culinary longings. ![]()
And I like ketchup on my hot dogs
I like catsup. ![]()

I already have vertigo so that doesn’t worry me. I did get nauseated for about an hour after our first Moderna hit. Daughter just got her second Pfizer shot and has had chills and a mild headache for several hours but not real serious. We get our second Modernas next Thorsday but we’ll have all weekend to weather any side effects. All in all it’s been a non event.
I like Newcastle Brown Ale and only put catsup on french fries and occasionally meatloaf, if I don’t have BBQ sauce.
Tried vegemite once.
Wifey has declared that she’s gonna make an aapple cake today.
She’s getting her ‘mess in place’ now and I need to vacate the kitchen table soonest.
Sirloins and pomme de terres for dinner.
And I like ketchup on my hot dogs, so neener neener!
Insisting on mustard on hot dogs is the only thing New Yorkers have to be proud about, and they are very proud.
