Top three alcoholic mixed drinks

Cruzan is good but in a Cuba Libre you want dark.

And with the cola and the lime, any decent dark rum works.

Porque? :confused::confused::confused:

Eh… with the cola and lime, any decent rum works really. Cruzan is a terrific bang for your buck rum- good stuff, and not expensive. I think I’d stay away from particularly funky Jamaican rums however; that hogo will still cut through the lime and cola.

Havana Club 7 years (amber) if my go-to for rum drinks. Probably can’t get it in the States (thanks Obama!)

Let’s not tar Obama with that brush; JFK is the one who started the trade embargo.

Bacardi owns the Havana Club name in the US, so it’s not the real deal in the US, I think it’s just relabeled Bacardi.

I thought that meme is always sarcastic now. Like this

“Thanks Obama!” is a meme meant sarcastically.

Ha Ha! Same.
Love them all summer and great relief from a winter cold!

They’re all pretty well known stereotypical Canadian drinks.

Making your own custom Caesar recipe is also a popular hobby.

My sister came to visit us on our island in Georgian Bay, we spent the weekend going island to island introducing her to family and friends… and were offered a different Caesar at every stop!

To me saying “Rye Manhattan” is like saying “Gin Martini.” That’s how they’re supposed to be made; you should really only specify if you want a bourbon Manhattan or Vodka Martini.

I’m probably in the wrong though; based on the number of places I’ve been where Rye isn’t the default choice in their Manhattans. :frowning:

To answer the question:

  1. Manhattan (especially if it’s before a steak dinner. Mmmmmm mmmmm!)
  2. [some top shelf] Bourbon, neat with a glass of ice water. (or just ask for a single cube of ice in the bourbon).
  3. Same as #2 but with Irish Whiskey. Probably Jameson or Tullamore Dew as that’s my home brand.
  1. Sazerac.
  2. Manhattan.
  3. Old Fashioned.

In the summer, substitute Sangria for Manhattan.

Yeah, but you have to say gin martinis, rye Manhattan, and fresh vegetables because if you don’t, you get the wrong thing.

I’m mostly a beer or wine guy. But if I’m going to have a mixed drink:

Eggnog (for the holidays, with a big slug o’ rum, and nutmeg on top)
White Russian (due to the Big Lebowski connection)
Vodka martini (007, naturally)

Margarita
a Negroni that swaps out the vermouth for tonic water—it’s the way she likes it, so that’s how I make it. There’s a Mexican Pomegranate liquor that’s like Campari, but much higher octane, and goes stunningly well with gin.

Tie between: Pimms Cup, Sazerac, Brandy Alexander, Cuba Libre.

I really did enjoy making daiquiris with fresh frozen fruit and berries, lots of rum, lime juice, and sugar. Our waistlines have improved since then.

This is very close to my list, except vodka gimlet is first, then gin & tonic, then margarita, and I’ll do the last with sugar no problem. But I don’t do many mixed drinks these days.
