I know you know this site’s cite but I can’t resist:
Which, in the classic internet hall-of-mirrors effect, is cited thereupon
FWIW, I originally saw it as a headline in my Google News feed. When later asked for a cite, I googled for “woman dead buffalo” and disregarded the articles about a car crash in Buffalo a few days ago.
I saw something very similar in Cades Cove less than 5 years ago. Young bear up a tree on the side of the road. People less than 100 feet away taking pictures. I wondered at the time if there would be a mauling. (Just to be safe I didn’t tell any bald heads to go up.)
“I could stand in the middle of Lamar Valley and gore somebody, and I wouldn’t lose any voters, OK?”
Where’s our Like" button?
Reading this thread I’m reminded of Roger Miller’s sage advice, warning people that they can’t roller skate in a buffalo herd.
Tourists do win. That’s the problem, or at least part of it. Everyone who comes home with a selfie with an animal will likely embolden another to try it too.
Search = selfie with bison. Darwin Award runners up.

She is not dead
Witnesses say she said: “I feel happy! I think I’ll go for a walk!”
The Idiots of Yellowstone would make a good History Channel show. When we were there a few years ago, two dumbasses had gone over the railing at Old Faithful a few months before and shot selfies in front of it. Not a rare occurrence, our guide told us - every year at least once or twice people go over the fence at various hotspots to appreciate nature even more closely.
Nitpick - wild beef ≠ bison. In no way should bison be confused with beef.
Thread title should be changed.
I beg to differ. Bison are just as much beef as cattle are.
Bison are bovines. And beef is the flesh of an adult domestic bovine (such as a steer or cow) used as food.
No change to thread title is necessary.

In no way should bison be confused with beef.
Got that right. Bison meat is incredibly lean. If you’re going to fry a bison burger, better grease the pan first.
ETA: Don’t confuse Bison meat with meat from cattle, per @TriPolar.
Agree bison is not wild beef. But as humor it works.
I’m reminded of the classic Tom Lehrer tune In Old Mexico which has the immortal stanza
For there is surely nothing more beautiful in this world
Than the sight of a lone man facing single-handedly
A half a ton of angry pot roast!
If a domestic bull can be “pot roast”, a bison can be “wild beef”

Bison are just as much beef as cattle are
I doubt you’ll find a single restaurant in North America that serves both bison and beef cattle that doesn’t distinguish between the two as beef & bison on their menu.
I don’t disagree with that. I’m just saying the thread title is valid.
Besides, beef of any sort rarely is described as ‘wild.’ Having seen the story elsewhere I twigged what it meant before I opened the thread.
Also, rule of funny.

Nitpick - wild beef ≠ bison. In no way should bison be confused with beef.

it is the other meaning of “beef” – you know, the one that is like “grouse”
When asked “Where’s the beef?” She replied “About 10 feet below me.”
