If most gorings are like this one: a couple stitches and go home, I could imagine a lot of tourists deciding the 99% worst case scenario is worth risking to get the pic of a lifetime.
For the unlucky 1% of attacked people who’re actually attacked seriously, well they’ll be celebrities in death. For a few minutes.
So win-win from their POV.
Said another way, bison aren’t dangerous enough to scare people. There’d be fewer injuries if there were more maimings and deaths. After all, nobody wades into the water to take selfies when wild bull sharks are sighted.
Twenty-odd years ago, my wife and I took a long driving vacation out west, and spent a few days at Yellowstone. While visiting the Roosevelt Lodge there, we looked through a large book/album, which was entirely filled with reports (filed by park rangers) of stupid people and their “encounters” with the park’s wildlife and thermal features.
