Tourney Bracket Challenge

I’m amazed. This is the first time in many years that I’ve had all but one of my Elite Eight picks are still alive going into the Sweet 16. I’ve usually lost one of my Final Four picks by this point.

Still, even though I feel like I’ve got a pretty good bracket this year, I’m nearly dead last in the group. Weird.

Typical results for me. Flying high for the first day and a half and then a complete nosedive. Still, I’ve got seven of my Elite Eight teams still in it, so I guess there’s hope…

Not only that, I wish CBS would adjust their audio mix too. The crowd noise, squeaking shoes and clanging rims are loud and clear, but half the time I can barely hear the play-by-play announcers.

It’s even worse if you’re streaming the games online. If you crank up the volume, you can hear the play-by-play (which is critical if you’re in another window), but then you’ll find yourself deafened by the commercials. Especially that damned Pontiac one – so loud!

Let the record reflect that at 4pm EST, I was tied for 1st.

I won’t be in 1st again: I had Wake going to the Final Four.

I haven’t checked my standings, but I must be well back in the pack. I’ve got 12 of the 16 left, but all are among the top seeds that I’m sure everyone else has as well. My dark horse Final 4 team, LSU, is gone, which hurts. I was surprised they gave that game away–I thought halfway through the second half they were going to run away with it. LSU was making shots, getting steals, up by 5 and and had a 31-17 rebounding edge on UNC. The were running circles around the 'heels. Then they went about 6 minutes with 0 points and I think 0 rebounds and they let UNC back in it. Bad time to go cold.

I was next to last after the first day. Now up to 4th.

Woohoo! First page! (Bo Knows Basketball) Pittsburgh isn’t giving me a lot of confidence though.

15/16 thats not bad…
Let’s see if i can go 8/8

Knocked out some favorites last night.

They aren’t blowing out teams, but they are finding ways to win. This speaks volumes.

We did not tear up the pools. It was a tough tourney this year.

Whooooooooooooo!

I think I won even w/ the last game left to be contended. Yay! My first victory in one of these pool things, and hopefully I’ll be back to defend my title next year!

Good games all, and t’was def. fun. So what’s my prize?

My espn.com bracket was ranked in the top 10,000 after the Connecticut/Missouri Elite 8 game and I was in the top 1000 on Facebook, but I went 0 for the rest of the tournament (settling in for a slot somewhere in the 1,000,000th place at espn). Nuts. My Yahoo! bracket was nowhere near as good as my ESPN & Facebook brackets. Damn Ty Lawson’s healthy toe!

Ok, lets just get to one shining moment already.

Whooooo!

Nice job.

7th place is probably the best I’ve ever done in a pool this large, so I’m pretty pleased. Also, I think it’s the first time since Michigan State in 2000 that I accurately predicted the ultimate National Champ on my original bracket.

Woohoo! I successfully predicted the national champ, despite having little to no knowledge of college ball!

Too bad the rest of my bracket sucked rocks.

Nicely done, Ro0sh
