Here’s the video. He looked really good just a couple weeks after leaving the hospital. Giving that famous goofy grin and the V sign just like always. I was thrilled that he seemed to be recovering quickly.
Isn’t he already very, very rich?
And aren’t brain injuries very unpredictable, such that one’s behavior might change radically even long after the initial injury?
I would not, no. What makes you think Tracy Morgan is a dishonest person?
His people have been saying that for awhile now.
Exactly. Yet you say he is faking it for money anyway. Classy.
25 Years of working in HR and Payroll makes a cynic out of anybody. We see people working the system all the time. Excessive Sick leave usage, Workers Comp Claims and so on. Thankfully I just write the database reports and print them off when told. The suits decide what to do about it.
I really like Tracy Morgan and I hope he’s back performing soon. He should be compensated for his injuries and if it turns out he’s permanently injured then he should be *well compensated *for lost future earnings.
I would not dispute that, but one of the reasons we have the suits sort it out is because an HR person or any distant observer cannot possibly know all the facts nor be in a position to judge the veracity of any particular claim.
Excessive sick leave = person you never met faking a brain injury after horrific accident? You realize the person sitting next to him died, right? I would not want to file a claim in your office.
Marc Savard hasn’t gone back to work since 2011, even though he’s still under contract to the Bruins. Would you say he’s “faking” it? :dubious:
Put the quote first, please. It’s a pain to read your reply and then figure out what you’re replying too.
I think it’s awful to even suggest he’s faking it for more money based on your perception of him. What you’re suggesting is so sleazy and immoral, that I can’t believe you’d casually throw it out there.
It was just speculation. I was surprised by the news of a downturn in his recovery. I had assumed his shattered leg was the problem. That can be a very slow rehab. Next time I won’t share my cynicism in my fellow man. Eventually Tracy will do interviews and the full story of what he’s endured will be told.
Yeah, you sound like a really big fan.
So, based on nothing than your cynicism, you decided to trash the reputation of a man who was in a horrific car crash that killed the person sitting next to him and is most likely permanently injured, because he smiled for the camera and gave a “V”?
Speculation is exactly what it sounds like. Idle talk about a topic that we know absolutely nothing about. The electronic version of talking at the water cooler. That’s what the majority of discussions are. This is a discussion board? Right?
Nobody’s reputation was trashed.
Do you ever make an assumption about people like this that doesn’t start out with a false premise? It’s bizarre to always begin from a negative place, your “experience” aside.
We’ve been talking about Morgan in the real world for the past few days. Ever since his lawyer announced his deep brain injury. Most people I’ve talked with think he’s genuinely disabled and a few think he’s working the system. No one knows yet for sure.
I thought it would be interesting to get opinions here. I should have known better. Even in Cafe casual conversations are nearly impossible. Every statement is taken literally. Raising a topic for discussion doesn’t mean I believe it. I’m a little suspicious because the lawyer trying to get a juicy settlement is the only source for this information. His doctors have not said anything. It’s valid to kick this around and discuss it. I expected similar results as the real world. Most people think he’s really impaired and a few like me aren’t sure what to think.
Morgan may have a serious brain injury. If he does then I hopes he get compensated and I hope he improves with therapy.
I don’t think cynicism is the word you’re looking for here.
At least you’re showing some self-awareness.
Maybe you are faking being in HR just so you can enjoy accusing a celebrity of faking an injury to get a fraudulent payout.
My job doesn’t give me any special insight into Morgan’s case. I’m more aware of workers comp fraud and that’s made me more cynical about people in general. It’s no different than a store worker that finds themselves closely watching everybody for shoplifting. You learn not to trust people in these kinds of jobs.
I never accused Morgan of anything. I simply wondered if he’s listening to his Personal Injury Lawyer and angling for a bigger payoff. I don’t know if that’s what he’s doing. It’s just something to consider and discuss as an interesting possibility. This is a discussion board and that’s what everybody is here to do.
I see now that people see this as some kind of attack on a badly injured guy that they love. It wasn’t meant that way at all. I often discuss news like this with friends and speculate how it might work out. Good or Bad. It’s interesting to see later (as more information comes out) if I was right or wrong. It’s just my way of thinking about and analyzing current events. I’m focused on the case and legal maneuverings between the lawyers. Not the person.
You’re not “analyzing” anything. You’re just impugning someone’s motives for the sake of impugning his motives.
Based on zero evidence.
For the record, I’ve never seen anything Tracy Morgan has done (I think). So I certainly don’t love him and am simply responding to an attack on a favorite actor. I think what you did was creepy, regardless of the subject.
Every fact indicates he was in a horrific accident. But based on a few seconds of video footage and your vast HR knowledge that people sometime fake injuries for money (shocking!) you decided to Just Ask Questions that maybe he was a liar and a cheat. It was tacky.
