Trampolines strengthen cells walls and immune system?

There are some sites like this out there that say it’s healthy to “rebound” on a little tramp, is it true?

Supposedly it helps the lymph systems valves from the G’s exerted… I searched Quackwatch and found nothing.

In the early '60’s, commercial Trampoline parks were popping up close to
amusement Parks. These Trampoline Parks were installed at ground Level and
you could rent one for an alloted amount of time. My sister and I both enjoyed
the Park. Unfortunately, People we being injurred at an alarming rate. Some
resulting in Paralysis. The Commercial Trampoline Parks were gone shortly after.

I can’t speak to the scientific evidence, but I know I always feel better after bouncing on a little tramp.

I don’t know if it helps you in any way. But we don’t have cell walls. If I remember last year’s Biology class right, all organisms have cell membranes, but only plants have cell walls.

I think that’s the funniest thing I’ve ever heard you say, bib.

Well, if I recall Anatomy and Physiology correctly Lymph nodes are distributed around the body much like the major arteries and veins. The difference however is that the lympathic system contains no pump. Rather it is the movement of your muscles which squeeze and push all the lymph around the body. Trampoline jumping would most definitely get that lymph flowing, but then again so would a mild swim. Me thinks it’s a crock.

Using a trampoline requires physical input, you simply don’t get a recoil bounce without first expending that energy yourself. So while using the “Rebounder” may be an excellent way of exercising, it’s not miraculously any better than any other type of exercise. So a lot of the amazing benefits you’d get from this product you’d get equally from not being such a lard-ass and getting any kind of exercise.

Unfortunately this message doesn’t sell half as well as ‘buy our product and the rest is easy’.

What a trampoline is excellent for is low impact exercise, as long as you know what your doing and stay on it. To be fair, this blurb does emphasis this.

“…know what you’re doing…”

So, no comment on the G-forces strengthening cells? If we all lived in a “G times 1.2” environment, would we all be more hardcore?

My mom started blabbing about this tramp thing agian… can we try and get some good info against this “g-force” thing!? There is only biased web sites out there that I can find…

btw, it’s called “rebounding”.

I always get little tramps on the rebound.

I dunno about little tramps having a beneficial effect on your immune system . . .

I have a little trampoline, and it does feel very exhilarating and energising to jump on it. It very quickly gets your heart rate going.

BUT: I found with mine, even jumping relatively gently, that I seemed to be able to feel my brain thudding in my head. I don’t know if I was imagining this, but it was uncomfortable. It’s one of the reasons I rarely use it now. It hurt my head to use it.

I guess I could see how a trampoline could strengthen a cell wall, maybe… but how on earth do you get it in that tiny cell?

Hey…who you callin’ a little tramp!? Why, I oughtta…

Thanks bib, you just made my day.

Please tell me someone has made a “bad trampoline experience” thread, or conversely, a “good trampoline experience thread”. :stuck_out_tongue:
