My username ‘aasna’ (which I also use on ICQ) seems to attract a lot of males, all with requests for sex-chat. What is strange is, they’re mostly from Slovakia. Some from places like Ukraine or Lithuania. All central or eastern Europe. Never anywhere else.
Since I haven’t specified any personal details in my icq user info that might prove to be a draw for horny Slovakians, the only possible reason I can think of why they might accost me in large numbers is that my userid ‘aasna’ means something rude.
If anyone can provide me with a translation, I’d be very grateful.
Don’t know what it means, but one way to reduce the amount of sex pests on ICQ (especially if you are female) is to set your age to over 60 years. I don’t use ICQ myself, but a friend of mine who does says that this works.
When you don’t have access to the Å letter, you can use a douple a instead, aa. Your nick just about yells “donkey” to at least a swede, and possibly other scandinavians. Maybe they tgink you are a guy?
‘aasna’ means ‘donkey’? DONKEY?!!!utterly horrified and distraught
it’s supposed to mean ‘reaching high’ or ‘hope’ (loose translation)! donkey?! grumble mumble…danged swedes…mumble…
i’ll be taking your advice, trabi.
and iteki, you just wait. you’re going to be immortalised in a sig henceforth.
you know, my userID was once voted the most musical nick on an asian BB i belonged to. but now? now, i’m scarred for life.
oh well, such is life. one day you’re hope, the next day, you’re an ass.
Well, it close to Jasna, which is common east european female first name… So your nick could be, some would think, of horny EE girl who wants to be rammed in the ass…
I noticed your name too. And if I’m not mistaken, aasna means something in Hindi too. I just don’t know what exactly… am trying to find out though, from friends who are more literate in my mother tongue than I am :o
This finnish pages are written in Swedish, which is one of their official languages. Forgot to mention earlier, that Åsna, or Aasne (with an e), is a norweigen girls name, for example Åsne Seierstad who has been doing the scandinavian reporting from Irak.
I don’t think most the sex-seeking males on ICQ even look at your name. Or even your profile, aside from possibly checking to see if you’re female. There’s just a lot of horny losers on ICQ (this is not to say everyone on ICQ is a horny loser – just that in a sample size that large there’s gonna be a significant number).
I get that kinda stuff in all sorts of languages on ICQ. Some of it, especially the messages in Portuguese and Italian, might be because they see the name Renata, which is not so common in English as it is in some of the romance languages. But that doesn’t account for the zillions of other languages and poorly-typed English variations on “hi u wnat sex chatt???” I get.
There’s a reason I set ICQ to only accept messages from people on my contact list.
“Asna” is the common name in parts of India for the East Indian Laurel tree (Terminalia alata or sometimes Terminalia tomentosa). There’s more information about this timber here, http://www.iswonline.com/wwp/wom/indianlaurel.shtml.
I think “aasna” is a Sanskrit(?) word used in Yoga. (But I’ve also seen asna and asana used in this context as well, so I’m not sure what the correct transliteration of this term is.) This site, http://www.hindu-mythology.com/html/divine_sages.htm says
Do any of the ICQ pervs think you’re especially flexible or something?
i am aware that ‘asana’ means yogic posture. ‘aasna’, i think, refers more to something like concentration for the sake of reaching a higher goal. i’m not quite sure how to put it. clarification would be good.
Bingo - this is exactly what my more literate-in-hindi-than-me friends had to say. They aren’t literate enough to provide a proper definition though
I have to admit though, to me, your name does have a certain sensual je ne sais quoi to it. So maybe those horny Slovaks were on to something after all
So how about some of them personal details then, eh?
