Travelogue -- a New World MMP

Morning/Evening/Nighty-night all!

I simply cannot keep up with everybody in here these days!

Sean, I haven’t seen any puns for a while??? :frowning:

SCL, I am so pleased to hear Libby is doing better - prayers still coming for her continued improvement.

welby and FCM - your day out boating sounds like it was a hoot!

haze, I don’t even want to imagine Japanese tentacle porn, let alone google it! Yech!!!

Taters, that’s a lot of Costco!!! I would not be game to go into a place like that, for fear of walking out bankrupt!

gotti, I HATE noisy neighbours! Worst we get here though is the workmen on the roof next door, banging and crashing in the middle of the day as they put up privacy screens on the roof (and they usually start just after Noor has gone down for a nap).

Nooner, how’s the jetlag???

Sorry Roo, but no lullaby today - but I can still wave hello!!!

Hubby is taking a sickie today - he sat up late last night watching the teev, so he didn’t feel like getting out of bed this morning. I’m not mad or bothered by this though - he got up at 5:30am yesterday to feed Noor, after I had been up most of the night with her, comforting her and squirting saline solution up her blocked nose! Which meant I got to have an extra 45 minutes sleep! Yayyyyyy!

And in more exciting news, Noor hit another milestone yesterday - she rolled over from her back to her front!!! Then, she couldn’t figure out how to roll back again and started yelling! I don’t ever want to go back to work - being a full-time stay-at-home mother is too much fun!!!

Awww! Yay for Noor!

Ketchup, mustard or relish, bud? :::chomp, chomp, chomp:::

~waving~ to Dotty. Great news on Noor!
OK, I really should be sleeping. . . ::walking towards bed. . .glancing over shoulder::

Nighty-night pumpkin! Sweet dreams!!! ::waves bye-bye::

Yay, Special1 is back!

There’s a principle in Management which states la culpa de todo la tiene Yoko Ono - “everything’s Yoko’s fault”, only in Spanish it actually rhymes. For many people, Yoko is the Quality department. We still haven’t received the materials the supplier should have had here a week ago? Why, it’s Quality’s fault (because five months ago we had some materials which had been received but which took three hours to inspect - now all delays in Receiving are Q’s fault). A machine in Production breaks down? Why, it’s Quality’s fault (because Maintenance can’t be bothered with Preventive, so it’s one of the lab techs who verifies that the scales in Production work well… never mind that the broken machine isn’t a scale or even near one).

Last Thursday I got three tickets that were definitely not Quality’s fault, but had been sent our way. I sent them to the boss saying “this is Production, this is Purchasing, this is Billing - please assign correctly.” He’s assigned them back to me on grounds that the person making the phone calls was from Quality. Sorry dude… if I’m to play Yoko I want the flat overlooking Central Park! (Plus, and no I’m not giving you a cite, my ass and hers can never be mistaken for one another).

So, excuse me for going to re-foist things onto the proper laps and not reading over more than 50 posts yet, ok?

I went up to see Libby last night. She was no longer sedated and was breathing well on her own. Her doctors had instructed the nurses to give her pain meds when her sisters thought she needed them, so she wasn’t in pain. She was semi-responsive; she would open her eyes a little when someone spoke to her or touched her hand.

Libby died about 3:30 this morning. Thankfully, she was not in pain. Thank all of you for your prayers and good wishes.

The 4th graders (and one 5th grader) to whom I taught Sunday school remember me as the one grown up who would tell them who “that guy Hitler” was.

It was at the time his (later to be found fake) diaries had been “uncovered”; all the grown ups were making a lot of fuss but nobody wanted to speak clearly with the tykes. So one Thursday (for we had Sunday school on Thursday, which makes sense if your language doesn’t call it “Sunday school”) they were all on time for once and only once; they all had pencils; they all had done the exercise from last week and read the paragraph from the Gospel. And when I asked “OK, what do you want? Cos I don’t believe for a minute this is some sort of miraculous coincidence, guys,” they said “if we finish early, will you tell us who Hitler was and what’s the big fuss?” So I said yes, and we did, and I did.

Last time I saw one of them was two years ago - the look in his gf’s face when he gave me a hug (they’re college age now) was quite funny to watch. I mean, the whole exchange was “NAVA! Hi!” “hey, hi (name)!” hug from him “bye!”

Damn :frowning: And here we (or at least I) had got the impression she was improving. I’m so sorry for your loss, and for the loss her family and other loved ones have suffered.

**Roo **-- definitely mustard. The really hot kind. With some Tabasco and hot peppers on top.

**Nava **-- Of course it’s always QA’s fault. What, I’m supposed to actually test the product and make sure it works? They should catch all the bugs and send them back to me before deployment! Right!?
And I always thought Yoko was ugly, so yes, I’m sure your ass is far shapelier than hers

**Dotty **-- Yay for Noor! There will be many more lovely milestones like that, this is the stage they seem to grow and change from day to day

Good Morning to all the New Worlders! I’m still feeling like I’m on “your” clock (which means it feels like it’s 6 AM for me, and consequently I’m half asleep at my desk :o)

On the first, the people who check my work here don’t check that what I’ve done works… all they do is make sure I have my i’s dotted and my t’s crossed, or perhaps the other way 'round, depending on the latest inspiration from Up On High.

On the second, I’ve seen naked pics of Yoko when she was quite a lot younger than she’s now and really, a chihuahua has a better ass.

Up and caffeinating. I have to go help out another store for a few weeks, they ran out of managers. So don’t worry, I haven’t quit the MMP, I’m just busy.

SCL, I am so sorry.

{{{{{{{SCL}}}}}}} I’m so sorry to hear that. My condolences to you and Libby’s family for your loss.

{{{{{{{{{{{SCL}}}}}}}}}}}}}} You are in my thoughts and prayers, as is Libby’s family. At least her passing was as peaceful as possible.

Up and caffeinating, heading to work shortly. My son starts classes at Philander Smith College today–he’s all settled in! I haven’t heard anything back yet from the endocrinologist re the biopsy of my thyroid. Happy Tuesday all.

swampy, you know how much I hate to nitpick but it’s “I’m feeling much better,now.”.

I’m so sorry to hear about Libby, SCL. Hugs, prayers and good thoughts headed out to you and to Libby’s family.

{{{SCL}}} I’m so sorry for your loss.

VunderKind should be in Etlanner now, on the way back to Indiannoplace. As always, it was tough to let him go.

I took the day off yesterday to be with him, and got The Treatment from VWife. She was taking a nap, and Da Rugrat and I were being slugs, watching Moonraker on the Boob Tube. I promised that I wouldn’t take any rescue calls while he was in town… Well, the day crew was out on a run, and they paged for a second crew. I had just finished explaining my 3-page rule to the kid, when the call went to four, so I called in and said I’d go.

By the time I got to the station, it was paged 10 times before someone else answered, and we had a crew. Fortunately, the run was an easy one.

When I got back, I was greeted by  X :dubious: from the wife. “I thought you weren’t taking any calls…”

“It was a call for a second crew. They paged 4 times before I answered, and 10 times before I got a partner.”

“Oh.” Even she could understand why I took that one, and her dander deflated immediately.

At least I’m flattered that Da Rugrat thinks his dad is a hero.

In other, now old news, my house was hit by lightning Friday, and it blew out the phone line. We didn’t have wire service until yesterday, although DSL still worked.
One of the DSL filters blew up, with pieces everywhere. All in all, a wild trip for my kid.

{{{{{{SCL}}}}}}} So sorry for your loss. I will be keeping you and her family in my thoughts and prayers.

{{{{{{{SCL}}}}}}} I’m so sorry.
