Username’s still Sterling, as above.
Well, my grace period ended and my neighbor attacked; 1000 macemen vs my 5 legionaries. Not much of a contest. He made off with a few hundred of all of my resources (the 400 clay and 400 wheat hurt the most).
Guess I need to build some traps. What do I need to build in order to get them?
Yeah, the dude around the corner from my little village has told me, point blank, that the moment I come off newbie status, that he’s going to bomb me into the stone age. Guess I can’t do much about that.
Yeesh, I guess I’m lucky… my neighbors seem fairly reasonable.
I think I’m just going to make a point of keeping my resources lower than my cranny’s total storage capacity, to make it boring and costly for people to attack me.
Careful. If they really want to make your live miserable then they will destroy your resource fields.
@Diomedes - try sending him a message and groveling. From what I see reading the forums it seems like many players will accept a “tribute” of 1 hours worth of production per day in exchange for leaving you alone. That may buy you time until the SDMB alliance gets strong enough to go pound the hell out of them.
I just put up a marketplace, so I will be able to support the alliance through trade soon. I am all 2s, and a couple of 3s now (except for my wheat fields - I won’t upgrade those until I start building troops - my granary is already full).
No dice. I’m going to throw up a marketplace, build up my resources until an hour or two before I go off Newb Protection, and then send them all out to whoever’s closest to me. Then I’ll restart, and pray for better neighbors.
I’m intending to do the same: I’m at 3s and 4s, so as soon as I build up enough soldiers to keep from getting crushed, I’ll start sending to the rest of the alliance.
What does upgrading your Rally Point do for you?
Improves the accuracy of your catapults…
If it makes you feel better Diomedes, I’ve been threatening the guy with my massive armies of conquering (no one tell him my army is only about 50 phalanx).
Thanks, Cap’n. I’m happy to act as a supply point for the rest of the alliance for now. Fingers crossed for my relaunch.
I’m happy to help with supplies too, so feel free to message me in-game if you need anything… some arsehole raided me earlier, but I’m waiting to see whether or not it’s going to be a regular thing.
I am getting picked on by two nearby players… one with a population of 1176 in four towns, ranked #260, and the other with a population of 1571 in five towns, ranked #80. Both have descriptions that suggest any plea for mercy will simply anger them. Thanks to my level 10 Cranny, they can’t get anything from a raid if I am watching. When I went to bed, they kept at it, and killed my 21 idle legionnaires*. Now I know I need to send them out on a ten-hour raid if I am going to be away from the computer.
*They put up a good fight, prevailing against the first two attacks, but were outnumbered for round three. RIP, legionnaires.

I just started and am still upgrading my fields. I’m right next to Cog though. Doesn’t seem to be anyone too dangerous near me, though I’m not sure how far I have to look to be safe.
Is there any reason to upgrade my embassy, or would you only do that if you are the leader of an alliance (to allow more members)? Do embassy upgrades give any other bonuses?
I’m in.

Right next Alistair as a matter of fact.
Building up my resources, embassy shall be my next project.
Just sent my first raid. Ten Teutonic Macemen headed to the local “abandoned” village (9 inhabitants, just came off of safety). Go Teuton Raiders!!!
Weird - it now shows the village I attacked as an abandoned village. I will see if I get any loot.
No loot, they came back empty handed. I do want to Raid, not do a Normal attack, right?
Aha - SECOND attempt at raiding worked - some decent loot pulled by my raiders.
