Treehouse of Horror IV

In Simpsons episode Treehouse of Horror IV (the one where Homer signs his soul to the devil for a donut), the animation seems really different from the rest of the season, and possibly the entire series. The drawings look a bit different and more sharp, and the animation is more fluid and dynamic. The coloring also seems richer. It’s like the production value of this one episode is a lot different from the other ones. Does anyone else notice this? When I point it out to my friends they think I’m nuts (rightly so). What’s the deal?

I’ve never noticed that. I’ll try to pay attention to it next time the episode rolls around in one of the countless reruns we’re having here in good ol’ Europe.
