Hats off to my fiancee, who is the woman who can truly spin straw into gold when it comes to helping to keep our wedding within budget. I have tried hard to scour the internet for both a reception hall and caterer while she did the same on her own, and admittedly she found places for a fraction the price I could get them myself.
Its pretty challenging to try and have a nice wedding for 250 guests and keep it under budget, but its looking like we’re going to be able to have one. We both agreed to sock away $600 a month toward the wedding. In a year, that will amount to $14,000 combined which was our rough budget.
When it was looking tough to find the kind of places we wanted for the price we budgeted, my first thought was “I’ll work tons of overtime, holidays, etc to make this happen.” she didn’t want me to kill myself working to afford it, and I didn’t want to drag out the engagement longer than a year. So we were in a tough pickle for a while, because it didn’t leave much room for other options.
But its looking like we’ll be able to pull it off. She’s quite the organizer, setting goals and getting them done under-budget and ahead of schedule. It definitely sets a good example for me
