I just got word from his family that our poster @TriPolar (Ed) passed away at home on June 22, 2025, which was also the last day he posted here. He was only 69. He left behind a wife and two sons.
Ed was a computer programmer, woodworker, tinkerer, cook, restaurateur, and autodidact. I’ll miss his contributions and delightful sense of humor here.
He will be sorely missed - clearly a clever fellow with a vast array of interests and a nicely twisted attitude. We’re both Row Dislanders, and repeatedly just missed meeting up IRL.
This. Were the Dope to write a eulogy, this sentence should lead. His last post is the work of a vigorous mind. Suggesting his death was a sudden surprise to all.
Damn Ed, you were a fine man cut down too soon. Condolences to your grieving family.
If the OP learns more about arrangements, etc., I hope they will share.
Trying mightily to find a bright spot in the gloom …
At least @Tripler won’t have to deal with any more mistaken identity events.
I’m so sorry to read this. He was always an interesting poster, and a constructive one. I never knew him well, and regret not having the chance to do so. My condolences to those who did.
Wow, this is a gut punch. He was one of my favorite posters.
Nice eulogy, needscoffee. I’m most of those things, to different degrees (but sense of humor definitely in his favor) , so that’s probably why I felt a kinship.
