@TriPolar has died

Well, it’s terrible news (2025 is already a hell of a year), but I feel better knowing that they’ll be remembered well here, and that each time I see TriPolar’s name come up in an old thread, I’ll still be hearing an echo of a vibrant poster. It’s not the best immortality, but it’s some solace to us perhaps.

I’ll add my thanks to everyone else’s needscoffee, but I’ll spare you another @ - you’re probably seeing more than enough notifications as is.

I’m so sorry, condolences to his family and to those of us who argued with him here on The Dope. He was a good fella.

I am so sorry, he will be sorely missed. My condolences to his family and to his Doper family too.

Very sad news, my condolences to his family and friends, also here on the Dope.

An often curmudgeonly and irascible man, the way he found joy was in feeding people.

This is a nice way to be remembered. It is regrettable that the many reasons to be irascible have outlived him.

I am sad to hear the news. I’ve read his posts for years, and while I didn’t always agree with him, I certainly had to respect him. Articulate and erudite; he always had something to say that made me think.

There is a small set of posters here whose posts I always read, no matter the subject. He was one of those posters. Thank you for the news, and my condolences to his family. And thank you for the link to the obituary.

Very sorry to hear this.
Always a shock to hear of the loss of a fellow doper.

I knew him a little, here, and liked him a lot.

But that obit. I’d have liked to have known him a lot in the really, real world, and feel certain that I’d have liked him a little

If you’re a woodworker, then you know his passion for Shopsmiths – along with everything else he did – made him One Cool Cat.

RIP, Ed.

That is sad to hear. Thanks for letting us know needscoffee.

Oh no, how very sad. Far too young. I liked reading his thoughts on things.

I’m older than he was. That’s too young. Very sad, and he’ll be missed.

Ditto on the thanks for posting the obituary. Much appreciated.

I’m very sorry to hear it.

Sad news. And so young. Time to search for some of his excellent posts.

Terrible news. I enjoyed reading his posts over the years. Always intelligent and articulate. I will miss him here. I offer sympathy to his family.

Sorry to hear this. I always enjoyed his posts.
And I also adored his screen name.

I’m so sorry to read this. The world is a bit darker with his passing.

May his memory be eternal.

i’m sorry to hear this and send kind thoughts to his Family and Friends. :anxious_face_with_sweat:

Very sad news. (I hope at least some of his family members read this thread, and see the deep respect so many here had for him.)

Vale TriPolar. A memorable and valued presence on the boards, and a great loss to this community.

It was always a source of comic bonding between the both of us. Especially how we both “aspired to [each other’s] elevated, congenial wit; suave style; deep sense of historic acomplishment; ruggedly-handsome looks; and magnetic attractiveness.”

This is sad news indeed . . . With his passing goes all of the aforementioned attributes.

Tripler
God Speed you devilishly magnificent son-of-a-gun.

It’s amazing to me how one can be saddened by the death of someone they never met in the flesh. It’s amazing to me how one can have a positive impact on someone they’ve never met in the flesh. TriPolar will certainly be missed but I’m glad we had him around for as long as we did.
