Trivia Dominoes: Play Off the Last Bit of Trivia

Alaska is one of two states that feature a bear on their flag. California uses the old Bear Flag of the California Republic, and Alaska’s motif is the “Great Bear” constellation, Ursa Major.

Canada’s two dollar coin has the Queen’s face on the front and a bear behind.

Two dollar bills are legal tender and 230 million of them were printed in 2006; there are over $1.1 billion of them in circulation. However, they are seldom seen, (perhaps due to hoarding) to the point that people have been arrested when trying to use these “fake” bills

The $3 bill was never a U.S. issued currency, although some states may have done so in the past. It has gained popularity as a derogatory descriptive, as in “phony (or queer) as a $3 bill”. There have been coins issued in a $3 denomination.

Chefguy beat me on the followup. Will try again.

On May 1, 1941, Citizen Kane, a film by actor and director Orson Welles, premiered. Citizen Kane was voted the greatest film of all time in five consecutive Sight & Sound 's polls of critics. The screenplay examines the life and legacy of Charles Foster Kane, played by Welles, a character based in part upon the American newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst. While a critical success, Citizen Kane failed to recoup its costs at the box office.

Orson Welles played a number of Shakespearean roles on film, including the title roles in Macbeth and Othello, as well as Falstaff in Chimes at Midnight, his adaptation of Henry IV Part I and Part 2. He also directed all three of these films.

Despite his reputation as an actor and master filmmaker, Orson Welles maintained his memberships in the International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Society of American Magicians, and regularly practiced sleight-of-hand magic in case his career came to an abrupt end.

Shakespeare frequently dealt with the concept of reputation. Two examples are Jaques’ speech on the seven ages of man in As You Like It (the soldier who “seeks the bubble reputation even in the cannon’s mouth”) and Cassio lamenting his lost reputation after a bout of drunkenness in * Othello* (“My reputation, Iago, my reputation!”)

A seven-sided shape is a heptagon. The regular n-gons for n ≤ 6 can be constructed by compass and straightedge alone, but the regular heptagon cannot. Figurate numbers representing heptagons (including seven) are called heptagonal numbers. Seven is also a centered hexagonal number.

The area of a regular heptagon of side a is a formula using the cotangent of π (pi). A = [(7/4)a²]cot(π/7) The cotangent of an angle, θ, is given by cotθ = cosθ/sinθ = 1/tanθ.

Baby **formula **is a manufactured food designed and marketed for feeding to babies and infants under 12 months of age. The most commonly used infant formulas contain purified cow’s milk, whey and casein as a protein source, a blend of vegetable oils as a fat source, lactose as a carbohydrate source, and a vitamin-mineral mix.

When feeding a baby, the introduction of cow’s milk protein in the first 8 days of a baby’s life will increase the risk for Type 1 diabetes.

According to the anti-abortion troops, abortion increases the risk of breast cancer. The American Cancer Society says No

Canada’s abortion law was struck down on constitutional grounds by the Supreme Court in 1988. Unlike in the US, that decision has been generally accepted politically, and abortion is now just one more medical procedure, regulated under provincial health laws. There have not been any further cases in the Supreme Court on the issue, unlike the regular stream of cases to the US Supreme Court since Roe v Wade. It’s an interesting commentary on the differences in the political cultures between the two countries.

The real life abortion nightmare of Nancy and Marty Klein was turned Absolute Strangers, a TV movie starring Henry Winkler. Basically, after Marty Klein decided to seek the abortion that might help his wife, who was in a coma from a car accident, recover, two men came forward and said they knew Mrs. Klein and her fetus would not want the abortion. These two men were absolute strangers to the family and did not know Mrs. Klein or the fetus at all, yet they knew what she snd the “baby” would want.

Black women are almost four times as likely to have an abortion as white women. For Latino women, the number is 2.5 times.
