I prayed 5 times a day and fastened on Ramadan.
I guess he left the faith because he didn’t want to be tied down anymore.

Haha! Well spotted.
Or maybe he missed eating salam sandwiches.
I was trying to come up with a quip about staple religions or religious staples, but didn’t think of anything pithy enough.
Very fastenating.
Salam/Salami was all I could come up with. But I still couldn’t resist.
2002 I converted to Islam
2002-2004 I took classes to learn about the religion
2020 I left the faith
And I didn’t miss ham sandwiches in slightest. I still don’t eat pork nor drink alcohol because, after 18 years without them, I feel no need to consume them again.
By the way, praying 5 times a day and fasting during Ramadan doesn’t make one a hard-line Muslim, just a regular one. I don’t know where you pulled that strange fantasy from.
From the way you have referred to the religion, it certainly doesn’t make you a liberal, either.
Maybe the real Islam is the friends you made allah the way.
… sniff …
The beauty, it burns!
BTW, by “sura” did you mean “Surah”?
Never mind
The socks in my clothes hamper are all mysteriously levitating into the air, for some unknown reason…
Mine do that if I don’t do laundry often enough.
OK, so I’m a right-wing troll now.
The ideas I presented in the thread may have been grossly wrong.
The arguments I put forward may have been weak, ridiculous or poorly-worded.
The definition I came up with may have been idiotic.
The examples I gave may have been irrelevant.
But I did not start posting in order to willingly cause offense or anger. I did not deliberately set out to provoke you.
In other words, I was not trolling.
You, however, have poisoned the well by dragging me in the troll thread. For now on, I’m going to be Moonrise the Right-Wing Troll to you.
I admit I strongly object to some requests made some activists, namely altering works of art to fit the Zeitgeist and demanding that restaurants adapt their equipement to cater to specific diets. I also have little patience for religious nutjobs.
For the record, here are some of the movements I have actively supported for years or even decades :
None of these issues are on the right-wing agenda.
But it does not matter anymore. I will forever be Moonrise the Right-Wing Troll to you.
You supported all this while you were Islamic?
If so, maybe it wasn’t as bad as you have made it out to be.
I did, although I shut up about gay marriage and trans rights. I was also extremely carful in the way I presented scientific facts such as evolution to some of my acquaintances. Being a convert at 27 means you enter the faith with an already well-defined set of opinions, not all of which can be reconcilied with religious dogma. So, I shut up about the ones that I knew were going to raise eyebrows, especially coming from a convert.
And before you ask, yes, I converted so that I could marry the woman I then loved. One more box ticked in the Moonrise-is-an-asshole column, I guess.
Could I please ask you once and for all to stop beating around the bush ? Am I a troll ? Am I a liar ?
Lol, love doesn’t make you an asshole. It makes you human.
Well you could stop doing that anytime you wan…
or not stop doing that I guess.
See this is where there is a disconnect between your claims [being very liberal] and the opinions you actually profess.
There is no movement to demand that publishers alter work or that restaurants adapt equipment. You carefully used the weasel some in an attempt to feign outrage over minor stuff, while not having to cite how this is an actual problem. Some can mean four guys in Nevada who agreed that BK should have separate deep fryers for vegan stuff and one of them made a blog post. But there is no large march on the Capitol with thousands of people trying to influence law makers.
You may not be a RW troll (nice deflect there) but you sure dwell in your lair under a bridge.
