The poster known as SuntanLotion is now posting troll shit in the Stupid MFers thread, which is fortunately in the pit, so they can be called out on it in situ.

They been on my ignore list a while now, for writing posts worth less than the time it takes me to read them.
I don’t know if they are a troll, but they most definitely are not the person they portray themselves as.
I’m sorry, I read the first post and found it insulting, but not (IMHO) anything that would have been actionable, so I posted my mild bit of snark and brought them up here. Their second post about exterminators felt threatening and moddable, so I flagged it with extreme prejudice (and was probably not the only one).
My mild snark was forgettable, but there was another poster who was supremely killing the troll with kindness, explaining that you have to be able to, you know, support your allegations and adhere to a minimal level of politeness or they would not be long for the world. THAT was a beautiful piece of work.
But I must say, it’s nice to flag someone before bed, and see them gone by the time you get up.

But your point about late night trolling is super accurate. The number of weeknights where I’ve gone to bed and found this thread has a dozen posts about a truly amusing troll-smackdown that is gone before I have a chance to giggle is not small.
But, giggles aside, better to have them gone ASAP. Win for everyone. And now we wait for the inevitable return!

That and their scattershot posting all day, normally more or less off-topic or as a content-free apologist attempt made me apply a 3 month ignore. Although since W_E mentions that they got a warning based on their past history, it seems likely if they keep posting with this frequency 3 months is all I’ll need…
What irks me the most, strangely, is that they use a Fallout avatar. I don’t want games I enjoy to be tainted by people who are nutjobs. It’s totally unfair that this is what irks me the most, and I’m puzzled at my overreaction, but damn my apparent human irrationality.
I should talk to BeepKillBeep about getting an upload to a nice clean inorganic unit with self-editing capabilities…

Yeah. Ultimately as best I can tell he’s the usual trollish sort. Just keeps posting his largely fact-free position pieces and pays no attention to any responses. In effect treating this place as a blank wall to be graffitti-ed at 2am, not as a place of actual debate or conversation in the daylight.
It’s vandalism. Which isn’t strictly against our rules until it arises to breaking the windows, not just spraying the walls.
He is suspended pending a review of his posting privileges. I will be bumping this up to the Modloop. He has been spamming the board of late and last night violated a mod instruction. It will take me a while to write this all up and my coffee hasn’t kicked in yet.
Thanks for the update. Once suspended it doesn’t much matter how long the coordination takes; the ongoing damage is stanched meanwhile.
Yeah, I found some of ralphy’s posts, especially in the Why the Hate for Trump thread, to be off-topic, and flagged them, but Aspenglow felt they didn’t rise to that level. Which may well be correct!
So no arguments about the moderation, and it seemed easy enough to let the Ralf-ster’s body of recent work stand for itself. Something obviously happened to drive the SDMB to the front of his head, as they’ve now gone crazy posting on dozens of old and current threads, but prior to the ignore, I hadn’t seen one that had much more than an almost child-like “Nuh-uh!” involved.
