Will he be free, or will he be trapped forever as the avatar of a banned ex-poster who wouldn’t even be able to change his avatar if he wanted to? Sounds like that’d be the worst kind of hell if you ask me. Like that window-thing they used to imprison the villains in Superman II…
Nobody disses Lassie & survives. Ralfy is dead to you.
The Phantom Zone is next door to the cornfield.
Vault boy transcends time, space, and nuclear holocausts, I’m not worried about him. Sure, as you point out, he’ll be attached to the frozen words of Ralfy in our archives, but on the OTHER side of the Ralfy will be the word: BANNED. Which will free his soul from the association.
Although if I could flip the orientation of the avatar and his pistol was pointed at Ralfy’s name, it would be even better.
(Note - I’m not intending to threaten Ralfy in any way, just that your own avatar threatening you is at least amusing)
What if there were lots of vault boy avatars?
Over in FQ “Amber13” asks a really stupid question about eyes and light, but in later responses seems to have already known the answer.
I’ll go out on a limb here and suggest that “how come I can’t see anything when I close my eyes?” is possibly not the most perspicacious question ever asked in GQ/FQ. I may, however, be misunderstanding some profound epistemological motivation behind the question.
Possibly a misreading of the forum/category title.
(It says “Factual” not “Fatuous”.)
Didn’t we have someone awhile back whose whole modus operandi was asking really dumb questions like that? Note her thread is now closed.
She originally posted in Cafe. The post was moved to FQ.
Though a weird question, it was not a Café topic. FQ from just the OP seemed like the place. Sorry about that.
It doesn’t read like somebody who’s high, but like AI Chat generated from each successive response by a board member.
Yeah, but if your eyelids are made of metal, what color do you see when you close them?
It depends whether I’m dreaming of electric sheep.
I’d have made the same call though. Even though it seemed like they answered their own question in the OP, there was maybe an implied question somewhere in it. It’s only with subsequent posts that you could see that wasn’t the case. It obviously wasn’t for Cafe Society in any case.
To me it was like they wanted to use the SDMB as a personal blog and not really create a discussion, so closing the thread was probably the only positive outcome.
Are you thinking of this dude?
(Who inspired this thread)
Yeah, it read to me like very bad AI. Pretty much repeating back what had been said in a very non-responsive manner.
Officially The Dope’s Greatest Thread.
Carry on.
Hues of Das Rheingold: Entry of the Gods into Valhalla, of course.
