I didn’t click on any of his links note, but simply checked out the recent graph for the dollar.

“Tankie” is a perjorative for leftists who support authoritarian Communist/Socialist states and leaders. I think it’s more used in England than in the U.S., as the same question came up with someone started the “Roger Waters is a tankie” thread in the Pit a few months ago.
The name comes from certain leftists supporting Stalin when he sent tanks to crush a revolt in Hungary.
Stalin was dead when that happened. Khrushchev sent the tanks.
The term tankie did come from that conflict.
