I had brief delusions of correlating some of our past guesses in this thread with the outcome. I made it through about 10 before I got bored. I did find one who was flagged for being “suspicious” but nothing overt. They made a half dozen posts then disappeared. So who knows - most likely the board didn’t hold their interest. I’m sure there are others who quietly disappeared after a few posts. I don’t think we can say conclusively that an unwelcoming environment wasn’t the reason for any of them.

As for the mods being grateful for the heads up, I’m sure that’s true when it’s a heads up about trollish or jerkish posts. I think this thread is great for that. It’s just the mentions here that are basically profiling that have started to rub me the wrong way, and I’d be surprised if the mods are in favor of those. And if they’d are, I’d argue against it.

I get a lot of legit heads ups here. They’re often useful.

Mentioning a new poster fits a profile of a returnee, does not cause harm typically, though a few people have really screwed up on occasion and linked back or even used the @ in front of their usernames.

We’ve had PMs where people have said so and so writes like banned poster such and such and seems keen on these same 2 topics.

With that we can do some crosschecking, check old notes, check some tech stuff and cast an augury and often remove a Trock.

The point of bringing up how the person would feel is not to discuss how likely it is to happen, but to allow for empathy-based moral arguments. “How would you feel if you were a new poster on another board who stumbled upon this?”

I would think it was a very hostile place, calling me a troll before I’d done anything. I’d think they were wrong to do so. Thus, by this type of moral argument, it is wrong for me to do to others.

“Obsessed” isn’t a bunch of people responding to something you publicly wrote on a message board. “Obsessed” is looking at a poster’s profile, attempting to discern patterns based upon the number of posts they have read and the amount of time they’ve spent viewing the board, finding no pattern, and telling everyone to keep an eye on them anyway because… reasons?

I can’t even remember the last time I looked at someone’s profile, if I ever have.

Your spectacular TLDR aside, if you were actually reading, you’d have noted my opinion of your creepy behavior on December 8th. You know, in the middle of your timeline. Also, this is a message board. We’re all boomer enough here to know how they work. That I took longer than 24 hours to reply to one of your posts 1) doesn’t make days (plural), it makes it take a day and a few hours change and 2) you know, that’s how message boards work. People don’t read or reply to every comment in real time.

That you looked at my summary is entirely unsurprising. It’s also incredibly creepy, and that you have decided from it that I’m a troll shows just how blind you are to just how obsessive and creepy your behavior actually is.

Looking up the view time and number of posts viewed by every new member of the board and reporting your results to everyone isn’t normal or healthy behavior. Its creepy and weird. It’s even creepier and weirder when you can find no pattern but decide they should be kept under observation anyway.
