Trolls R Us Resurrections

But only one “f”, because there are no more f’s to give.

Cockfield?

Well, I wasn’t sure if cornfield could be said outloud.

Just don’t say it 3 times quickly, lest it be summoned to you, or you summoned to it.

Ah. The Beetlejuice approach to the SDMB.

In response to this innocuous and perfectly fine post in the P&E thread about a missing general

everone’s favorite #2 “expert” in all things military threadshitted thus:

Now that’s patently absurd and 100% false. The military simply doesn’t work that way. But, what the hey, let’s hit it up sentence by sentence.

Old miltiary axiom: When someone starts out with “no shit” they means what follows is nothing but shit.

The three years she spent there as a dependent. That’s quite the qualifier for authority for what follows!

And this is something she would know…how, exactly? And what difference would that make anyway to a submarine’s schedule of operations given all the other logistics involved, not to mention the expense?

Again, that’s not the way the military works. Nice touch with the ominous and anonymous “they” as the people squashing a Navy officer’s excuse to be out of the house though.

That depended then just as it depends now on the mission. Deployment dates are not set in stone and never have been. It’s funny that she posted the name of the submarine as though there’s no history online of the vessel’s deployments and a list of its commanding officers during its time in service. I wish each and every CO during the time she stated could sue her for libel.

Yeah, right. None of that military crap to interfere with one’s time with the family.

Again, all of that depends on the mission. It’s not because the new CO just happened to adore his family more than a previous one.

This just occurred to me. Maybe the CO in question felt sorry for her husband and decided that the grueling deployment schedule would get her husband, not the CO, away from the detestable family.

Seriously, though. Is it even possible for her to type a single word of truth about the military? Is she vying for the Doctor D Award for Spewing Bullshit Online?

She posts more shit than the entire New York City sewer system has in it at any given moment.

I left out the liar’s name because I think we’re not supposed to mention that here. If I’m mistaken, let me know and I’ll put it in, not that it’s that hard to find.

Being totally full of shit is not the same as trolling.

And they were modded and the post hidden.

All done

I don’t understand how that’s a threadshit. Someone posted that it was unusual not to deploy, and she added that she knew someone who was the opposite. I didn’t see her denying the poster, just adding the opposite because some posters just have to jump in if it reminds them of something, no matter how insignificant or off-field. I see it more as a slight hijack. What am I missing?

Nm got posts confused. Is there a link to see who this is about?

Found it. Was actually in MPSIMS and was not who I thought you meant.

It’s been moderated with a note saying, in part,

and then spoilered/hidden. For what it’s worth, I had been reading that thread but had I seen that post I would have glided right past it, as full of stuff one needs military experience to understand. A big Meh for me.

Yes, I know. I read it before and after it was hidden. But I don’t see how it was a threadshit, just that it was a tangent. I didn’t think she was saying that it wasn’t unusual not to deploy, but that she’d also seen the opposite extreme.

Perhaps i overreacted.

I dunno. I TL;DR’d pretty hard out of that.

Not because I thought it was active trolling. Just because it looked like way more than I needed to hear, and only faintly topical.

I didn’t mind the post. I clearly have no need to fact check every point.

I don’t get someone who spends what 2 days?, composing and quoting each sentence.

And posting it in the Troll thread.

Huh?

Seems a bit over the top. IMO

No wonder I couldn’t find this, it’s in MPSIMS.

Or I’m just missing something. But I’ve never known her to threadshit. She usually tries to add something related (tangentially).

@Monty. IMO your complaint is sorta well-founded. But IMO more belongs in this other thread than here:

You might be blowing this just a BIT out of proportion.
