I do not believe my reply to you is stupid. The OP was about an issue (or bug) on the SDMB. You reported a possibly related issue in your post. You had apparently missed that this issue had been brought up before. Thus I told you it as a known issue, and the reason given for why it could not be fixed.
However, I was concerned that others might think that my explanation applied to the original issue brought up in the OP. So, in a separate paragraph, I explained that what I said did not apply to that issue.
If you have no personal beef with me, then I would ask you to stop taking things so personally when I give information that you may already know. I am replying not only to you, but to everyone who reads my post. Not everyone who reads my post is as technically adept as you, and I wish to be as clear as possible.
I apologize for calling you a troll. It really did seem like your response was to say that you were (1) deliberately being hostile towards me and (2) did not intend to stop. However, I will take you at your word that you have no personal beef with me, and am willing to forget about this.
We have had several productive conversations related to tech issues in the past. And your post on Discourse markup is better than anything even officially available. I still argue it should be pinned. It was only recently that you seemed to start replying to me with resentment for mentioning information you already knew. I don’t know what to tell you–that’s just going to happen in any sort of public conversation. Just because you know something doesn’t mean everyone reading the post does.
Such points of clarification are never personal, and never meant to imply that you don’t know them.

There was no hostility intended in my first response to you. I just pointed out that what you seemed to be claiming I said was not actually what I said. Your reply to that seemed pretty over the top. Sorry for poking you about it, though.

This paragraph seems to be claiming more than one incident of hateful, intentional trolling. I only saw the one case which you two have been discussing (which was apparently mostly a misunderstanding). Were there really no others?

I do have to laugh at how the same guy who rejects evidence that goes against him because he doesn’t consider the source reputable will also provide cites from that highly-reputable source The Daily Caller.
He’s not remotely dumb, but his worthwhile contributions to this board are few and far between.

Yeah… that’s part of the reason I deleted my (not at all controversial, not at all moddable, not even addressing one of the usual troll/transphobes, just someone I agreed with) reply in that thread. It’s a tired topic, started by a troll, meant to stir the pot and get “woke social justice types” (channeling my inner troll) spun up rehashing an old issue. A non-issue. It’s a manufactured controversy, put forward mostly by TERFs and other transphobes.

If that guy isn’t trolling, he’s got some serious social interaction issues and probably shouldn’t be left alone with a woman of any ilk.

He probably has a specific question dealing with this on the pre-date application.
