So, do you store those in a humidor so they don’t dry out between dates?
Archer: Why in the sink…is your vagina?!
Katya: Why? (chuckle) Darling, it was dirty.
Woodhouse: The remedy for which, Miss, if you’ll forgive my boldness-
Katya: Da, Please Woodhouse, I think boldness is needed. What do you suggest?
Woodhouse: White vinegar, mineral oil, and elbow grease. Same thing we used in the RFC to clean the engines of our Sopwith Camels.
Yep, am avoiding replying to anything in it.
I believe that the world is currently full of transphobes. And i mean that literally. Not people who hate transgender folks, but people who find the whole idea scary and disconcerting. It challenges the way they’ve always thought about the world, and that makes them uncomfortable.
I saw this before when gay people started to come out in large numbers in the 80s. And most of those homophobes eventually realized it didn’t actually affect them in any bad ways, and got over it.
Look at US opinion polls on same sex marriage. The shift is much too large to be “old people died”. A huge number of people changed their minds as they got more comfortable with the idea.
I think the same thing is happening now with the transgender. They are coming out, and the naive response of a lot of people who’ve never had to think about these things is, “eek!”
But most of those people are decent human beings. When they meet transpeople, and interact with them, and realize it doesn’t actually matter to them…i think most of them will come around.
So i don’t think it’s a tired topic, yet. I think it’s a topic worth talking about, in humanizing ways.
Maybe I’m just an idealist.
I won’t lie, I wasn’t comfortable with the idea at first. I wouldn’t say it was bigotry, it was simply a lack of understanding and just an unfamiliarity with it. But I got some more information about the subject, and then had a few close friends who changed their identities to female, and between wanting to be supportive of my friends and just getting used to it it became no big deal. My friend Dean became Deanna, and if she was happy I was happy.
Says you…
I think you’re all being overly dismissive of the trock (come on, it’s a sock, too). I am desperately looking for an English word to describe a blonde haired, hispanic, Islamic, cisgender female with a naturally occurring, but cosmetically enhanced vagina, with Marfan Syndrome, who specifically doesn’t suffer from a cleft palate, nor apotemnophilia, but does have toe syndactyly, and also had scrambled eggs for breakfast. Does the same word suffice if she has heterochromia, and if not, what word would I use instead?
Without such a word, how could I possibly differentiate between my dates Jane and Bethany when talking to my friends?
No argument from me.
Clang, clang, clang went the trolly
Ding, ding, ding went the mod
Zing, zing, zing went his postings
From the moment I saw him I LOLd
This is excellent, and I’m hearing it in Rosie O’Donnell’s voice, from when some impersonator sang that song as her in a Simpsons Halloween episode.
KennyT finally banned, I guess he pushed it too far.
Don’t think I ever ran into the guy, but I’d have given him the boot after this series of posts:
Here is one person who is pinging my sockdar… Named “dolfinwriter”. Joined 15 days ago, starting out normal enough in a GQ thread asking about how to enhance faded ink and pencil writing on walls. A pretty confident first post/thread for a new poster, but okay maybe they are just comfortable with message boards.
But their next contributions were “whataboutism” in the “Delay in prosecution of Trump” thread on P&E.
So far the person isn’t trolly, and in fact I even kind of like the poster. Even when trying to play “gotcha” in P&E they aren’t being belligerent. But still, this person just screams “sock” to me, whether they are a jerk or not.
So… one of our banned sealions has socked up?
It’s a bit early but that’s entirely plausible.
I dunno - he’s gone frothy pretty quickly in the P&E thread. He’s not even trying to present a coherent…well, a coherent anything. He might be a sock, or he could just be a regular right-wing idiot.
Hard to tell sometimes when they are all cribbing from the same playbook these days.
Is it generally the case that all socks are trolls?

(not sarcasm)
Depends on why they were banned in the first place.
Minority position: all socks are trolls because they’re meta-trolling the board. Their inability to take the hint and their insistence on inflicting themselves on a community that clearly doesn’t want them around is fundamentally trolling, even if their posts are as pure as wind-blown snow. Their presence is prima facie participation with ill intent.
Methinks comrade dolf is about to be hit with a warning.
