I think some people sock up and avoid the behavior that got them banned. If they can be good participants in the board, then I’m happy to have them. I suspect those people are in the minority of socks and most are trocks.

ETA: considering the recent posts, TPTB may just go straight to dropping the banhammer.
The ones that get noticed generally are. No one really pays attention to a new poster unless they act up in some way.
In theory someone could let something slip and be identified that way, but I can’t think of an example where that happened. I don’t remember there ever being a poster who was perfectly well behaved, but accidentally let something slip so that we realized they’d been banned before.
A bit before your time:
I was kinda feeling sorry for the OP until they decided to call a couple mods “cruel.” That seems a rather dumb thing to do when requesting leniency.
At least we can say “good riddance” to KennyT, and kudos to the mods for a good job. What an insufferable asshole!
