I assume you left out one word, perhaps against, here.
Thanks, I didn’t see that. I don’t know if he’s intentionally trolling, but he’s certainly an annoying and egregiously uninformed asshole.
Just a reminder, being wrong, even very wrong is not trolling. I still haven’t seen anything by him to indicate he’s trolling. He isn’t derailing threads, he isn’t JAQing, he isn’t nitpicking 1 small issue, he isn’t ignoring clear cites, etc. He seems to just be arguing a very unpopular opinion on this board and most places in the West.
The first few weeks of the illegal and horrific invasion, he was pissing me off to no end, but I can’t point to any trolling that I’ve seen.
The objections are to his argument rather than trolling. Just the usual nationalistic bullshit being defended by a poster.
If Mexico had experienced a recent revolution and the new president leaned toward joining something like the Warsaw Pact, US politicians would be making the same arguments as Putin. Perhaps like ‘Since we already stole most of Mexico, we should go back after the other half’. Illegal, horrific and offensive, but not surprising for politicians.
That’s ridiculous. There’s no way they’d do that.
They’d just clandestinely assassinate him and topple his government instead.
My bad
Hell, Trump was actually proposing that we fire missiles into Mexico, and then deny doing so.
The well-known diplomacy standard of implausible deniability.
Well yeah, but Mexico was going to pay for them
BTW, in the past, the US did launch missiles to Mexico. By Mistake… Twice at least.
That last one I just found out about it… and the US had to do a big cleanup in the Mapimi Desert, in northern Mexico, because it was a rocket testing nuclear material that would eventually had been used in a nuclear dirty bomb.
Scientology was founded on shelling Mexico from the sea.
I thought it was founded on a bet, or to cynically make L Ron Hubbard, or both.
To cynically make L Ron Hubbard rich?
Yes,

He’s referring to the time Hubbard shelled Mexico resulting in a diplomatic incident
Here is some info on The Coronados Incident:
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/Cowen/warhero/coronados.htm
Here is an excerpt:
The exercises ordered by the Fleet Operational Training Command on June 28, 1943 had ended early that day, at only 4 p.m. Hubbard decided to use the opportunity to hold a gunnery drill with the PC-815’s 3" gun, firing three rounds of practice ammunition. A drifting target used during the day’s earlier exercises was used as an aiming point. The ship then headed for a nearby island, where it anchored in seven fathoms of water to sit out the night. A small arms drill was also conducted, firing an estimated 120 rounds of .30 (rifle) and .45 (pistol) ammunition. The crew fished for food before turning in for the night. At 7 a.m. the following morning, Hubbard returned to San Diego - and to a lot of hot water.
The PC-815 had anchored in the territorial waters of Mexico, just off South Coronados Island. The Coronados Islands (Islas los Coronados) are an otherwise insignificant group of four small rocky islands just inside Mexican waters, about five miles south of the US-Mexican sea border. They have never supported a permanent settlement, being too arid and rugged, though a short-lived “Coronados Yachting Club” ran a hotel - actually an offshore drinking establishment - during the last two years of Prohibition in the United States.
During the Second World War, which Mexico entered on May 22, 1942, the islands were the scene of Mexican and US military exercises. Earlier on the day of Hubbard’s visits they had apparently been the scene of a bombing practice by the US Army Air Force, with the permission of the Mexican authorities. The islands are, however, garrisoned by a small detachment from the Mexican Navy, who must have been surprised to have seen the USS PC-815 turn up and hold an impromptu gunnery practice near one of the islands. It was probably these observers who saw Hubbard’s vessel at anchor and firing shells offshore. A formal complaint was made to the US authorities, and less than 48 hours after returning to San Diego, Hubbard and his crew were ordered before a tribunal to explain themselves.
That whole web site, Ron the “War Hero”, is full of info about L Ron Hubbard’s military career. I read it, and the Operation Clambake web site (about Scientology in general), many years ago. Around the same time I started reading the Straight Dope and Snopes. They’re still great info about Scientology.
TedBaiamonte is back.
This time stinking up the "What parts of U.S. history are the most important for kids to know? " thread. He’s doing a the classic Sea lion schtick by innocently asking what is specifically biased about his statement that “Democrats oppose [the constitution] in favor of liberal progressive socialist nanny statism”
Don’t you mean, TedBaiamonte are back? and They’re doing a the classic Sea lion schtick?
Because all their posts refer to self as plural, “we”, “us”.

I pretty much told him to knock it off. Judgement call, but I’m not allowing that kind of posting in GD.
All of their recent posts (at least) use “I.”
Upon reflection, sometimes “I” is used… to refer to the person who makes the post. But many times it’s like he thinks he speaks for the court.
“You say there is bias but you don’t say exactly what the bias is. Can you tell us what specifically is biased.”
“Can you give us the reason you think there is a specific disregard for reality. You could tell us exactly where the disregard is for reality and what reality really is.”
“If you disagree with what I said can you give us the specific reason for the disagreement. Thanks”
“when we say best quality obviously be [sic] are talking about the best quality they can afford”
“If you are trying to make a point about whether capitalism is best or not please try to make the point more directly and literally so that we know what on earth you are trying to say.”
“If you have some thing against capitalism tell us exactly what it is please.”
