Tron 2.0

They are starting work on Tron 2.0, and it will be released in 2011. Jeff Bridges continues his character, and Daft Punk is doing the score. If I could do backflips, I would be flipping like a dolphin. Is anyone else pumped about this? John Hurt is in it as well. I would give a link, but I don’t have any fantastic ones, other than plan ole imdb, and tidbits here and there.

I’m 29, so when the first one came out, WOW! So cool! Amazing! And then recently I rewatched it, and I honestly thought it stood the test of time, mainly due to the hot chick with glasses and Jeff Bridges and it still just looked totally cool. I have big plans to make a Tron costume for next Halloween.

Anyway, this is the first thread I have ever started, and it’s cool if it sinks. But it shouldn’t!

Welcome to the SDMB, mariposalabrown.

I loved the first Tron flick and think that if they can come up with a better plot, this will be a lot of fun as well.

IMDB already has a page up about it too: TRON: Legacy (2010) - IMDb

Also found this clip and some plot exposition at TR2N Story Details Reveal A Little More About What Kosinski & Co. Are Up To!!

Awhile back someone posted a link to a screener teaser vid for it. I’m surprised it’s taking until 2011 to be released.

Here’s one link to it.

Video quality isn’t great but just the sound FX alone make me kinda moist.

The revamped clip is the one on the Ain’t It Cool link in my post, as well.

Also, if you haven’t played the videogame yet, you gotta gotta gotta. It’s jaw-dropping crazy amazing, has a plot that’s both completely original and faithful to the source material, it’s six years old and will run on anything, and it’s two bucks on Amazon. You really don’t have any excuse.

Tron 2 is called TR2N or something on the teaser - surely it should be TROFF?

In the old days of BASIC programming TRON was a command to show line numbers as the program executed for error checking - Trace On.

TROFF turned it, errm, off - Trace Off.

Bruce Boxleitner is also returning.

I am hoping the Tron Guy might be recruited for costume design.

Call it TR1N, as if they started numbering at 0.

I wonder what Cindy Morgan is up to these days; can they get her back for the sequel? You’ve seen Caddyshack, right mariposa? It was one of those :smack: moments when I found out that was the same actress.

“Babylon 5” fans might recognize a much younger Peter “Molari” Jurasik in the original. I think he plays a nerdy accounting program.

What about David Warner? Will he be in it?

David Warner is the ultimate movie bad guy, and can make other bad guys good in comparison. Such power should be used sparingly.

Weren’t you 3 when this was released in 1982?

We would rent it on VHS, so I must have been 6 or so. I’m thinking we had an Intellivision, and had just gotten an Atari, so whenever Atari’s were available is around when I saw it.

And talk about fighting ignorance! Never noticed that was the same girl from Caddyshack!

I can still play Tron on my Intellivision. I love taking out the orange Recognizers with a frisbee shot through the eye!

I can play Dungeons and Dragons on it too, but it’s not so much fun.

yeah but are the going to time the movie release with a video game release so you can play Tron and watch it?
and Discs of Tron is still one of my favorite stand up games ever, to bad it was so rare.

You can get a Multi Arcade Machine Emulator and the Deadly Discs Of Tron rom and play on your pc.

I still don’t have the other Tron arcade machine rom though.

I do have the action figures.

I’m seriously thinking of making one of these come halloween. I don’t think it’d be that difficult. What is electroluminescent wire anyway? If I can’t get this to light up I might just use blue glow in the dark paint.

So this thread’s not about a 5-year-old computer game? Good.
