The future path and intensity of Tropical Storm Don is unpredictable, due to the influence of a poorly understood but very influential weather phenomenon known as Vlad.
It’s going to be the most tremendous tropical storm you’ve ever seen. You’re going to be tired of tropical storms after this one.
How do we know how strong this storm is? They won’t release the wind speed.
Not much wind speed at all with this one. In fact, it’s barely moving. But the hot air fueling the system is tremendous. Best hot air out there.
Oddly, West Virginia is the state most likely to be impacted.
Must be high, though: it shows on the Doppler as orange.

Being serious for a moment, in Cayman we are watching closely as Don’s track is holding far enough south that it could be toward our part of the Western Caribbean by the time it swings north. We’re hoping it will dissipate into a tropical wave as currently forecast and just spread some rain around.
Regardless, I better make a couple preparations tomorrow just in case. I go to work (9-1-1 center) on Friday morning and if this storm does hold together and intensify it could turn my scheduled 6 hour shift into a 72 hour marathon. And if this storm does turn into anything I won’t be allowed to leave work to finish securing the house.

Funny thing is, there actually is a storm named Hillary scheduled to happen in the Pacific. Is she currently vacationing in Hawaii to gather her steam, or something?
