I welcome his pitting for a piss-poor example of conservative debating styles. Throwing out random “Marxist” attacks on Der Trihs accomplishes nothing.
Trotsky: Conservatives are in seeming short supply around here. However, some of them do a damn good job of using facts to argue their points. The great thing about this board, above and beyond all other boards I have been on, is that there are ground rules to keep things in order. You can read those rules at the top of each particular board. Moderators will move threads across boards to where they are more appropriate.
The “left” does have the numbers here. However, for the most part, they also will play by the same rules the rest of us have to follow. If you want to pit Der Trihs for his beliefs, you do it in the pit. Hell - IMHO he deserves a regular pitting. However - that is IN MY OPINION.
If you want to bash the left for treating Islamic Radicalist Terrorists as criminals instead of military enemies - start a debate thread and keep it clean. Or start a pit thread and make it nasty. Either direction will start a fun little run.
Jumping in with low level trite insults, however, accomplishes little around here. It is also not allowed in Great Debates.
Damn it man - there is plenty to attack on the Left - do it right! Why bother with cheap thoughts (and shots) that were out-of-date in the 90s when you can hit them with hard financial figures for example.

I don’t actually know if Der Trihs is a communist or not, but he is one of the most overwhelmingly unpopular posters on the board. Which is, admittedly, a very left-leaning board. So if you are correct in assessing his politics, and if you are also correct that “liberal” and “Leninist” are interchangable terms, how do you explain the great deal of hostility Der Trihs’ political views get from this very liberal message board?

Nonetheless, DerTrihs isn’t, and neither is just about anyone else on the SDMB. Communism is an indefensible and impractical ideology, and a true Communist wouldn’t last long, since he’d have to defend his beliefs.
