I have tried to respond to several posts. On numerous occasions the reply I am posting just disappears and I get the original thread. All my carefull worded prose is in the bit bucket, gone forever. I am using XP and Firefox. It seems to happen only after a long reply, and when starting a sentence. Is there some hot key combo like accidentally hitting the control key or the function key and a letter that does this? Is there a way to get my text back?
Cheating but you could compose your post in a text editor then copy and paste it into a reply box, then at least you can have another go if it should dissapear.
Sometimes I get a “no can do” screen when I hit the Post Reply button, especially if I took a while writing a long post. However, before clicking the button, if I highlight the whole post, then right-click and copy it, I can retry if I have to without having to retype it.
There are times of day when a multitude of people have a few minutes to peruse the SDMB. Within a few minutes of 11:30am, noon, 12:30, 3:30pm, and 5:00pm, I stand a good chance of getting spit out by the system.
