I oscillated between emailing a random Mod or opening a thread, and decided to take a stab here. I did some searching without finding an answer, including the FAQ and this Forum. Appologies if this is a duplicate.
I’ve been slowly getting my GF hooked on SDMB, and yesterday she decided that she was going to register - problem being that when she tried, the Vb wouldn’t let her because I’d already posted once from that computer.
I set my “Store Username & Password in browser memory” to off when I registered, and I don’t know where that info is getting stored;
The twist is the following: We’re using AOheLl, and both our screen names are within the same account. Additionally, when I posted from her computer, we were logged in to AOL with her creds. AOL being the spawn of satan that it is, I’m not sure where that might have screwed stuff up -

I am but a mere mortal, but I believe I can answer. Down the bottom of the main board page there is a logout link. You can use this to enable another user to log in from the same machine. Your GF will however need to register with her own email address.

But some experimentation shows that the logout button only shows up if the “Store Username & Password in browser memory” option is selected: As I mentioned, I have it turned off, so on both her computer and my own all I see on the main board page (at the bottom) are the login/password boxes.
It can be done. I think you need to turn off the cookies to register another name. Detailed instructions can be found here and here. Please make sure you email TubaDiva or another admin so they know you are sharing a computer/IP address. Welcome to the boards MCL’s GF.

I guess I’ll have to hack AOL’s system for keeping track of cookies (I am forced, i say FORCED to use it against all better judgement); I didn’t suppose cookies would be involved if the “Store Username” option was turned off, but hey! since when do computers make any sense!

Welcome, Misery. So how long before you two end up fighting over who gets to use the computer first? (SDMB is a horribly addictive thing.)
Oh I don’t think that will be a problem, he already said she has a computer.
Spider Woman, and I, post from the same computer, and there have not been any problems.
You see, me, being the, ahem, gentleman I am, defer use of the puter to the lovely Spider Woman, and when she’s done with posting, reading posts or threads, she then asks if I would like to go online. See no problem.
This may also be the reason she has 2000+ posts, whilst I have around 600. Not that I’m complaining, mind you. She has more to say than I, a borderline idiot, do.

The true reason I have that many posts is that I was unemployed for the first seven months of my membership here. I think now, imthjckaz and I have closer to the same posting rate.
