Theories? Is Jack Harper benign or less-than-benign? How did he know the winning horses? Is he reliving days too?
What the heck is happening?

I don’t know, but it certainly seemed like he was trying to undermine everything Tru was attempting to do once her day started over. And the scenes from next week indicate that it keeps happening. Was it deliberate? Is he some force of nature sent to balance the things she’s changing? I definitely want to know. And I wish they’d rebroadcast the episodes I missed, too.
And Jason Priestly isn’t looking so hot anymore…
I really do like this show. And I’m glad they’ve gotten around to launching this story arc – you can’t live on isolated replay-of-the-week episodes forever. Jason would not have been my first or second or third choice for the role, but he’s there and I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Ok, I’ll admit it. I watch Tru Calling OK!?!? and the O.C.
Good episode tonight, I hope this show survives Fox. Of course the fact that I like it is a bad sign, it will be off the air in a month
Oh no the O.C. was supposed to be very very small but instead I yelled it to the world! ACK!!!
I don’t know what’s up with him. I like his character being in the show more last night than I did last week. I also liked Tru’s exasperation with the reporter.
I hope there isn’t another person who knows like Davis. Davis knowing is kind of interesting. Priestly knowing is kind of… dumb. I think he’s just nosy. If I worked with Dushku I’d definitely want to know more about her
Forgot to mention, does next week sound super interesting or what?
I really am enjoying this show. It has mediocre writing right now, but I think it has a lot of potential. I thought the same thing about Dark Angel, which FOX slaughtered with bad writing in the second season (the finale showed that show’s potential IMO). I agree with Snoooopy that the larger arc is a little more interesting than corpse of the week.
Is there any word on whether FOX is going to keep this next season?
I think it’s more than Priestly knowing. I think he also relives days.
How did he know about the winning horses, especially the 20:1 shot in the second race? Why was he so positioned and to send the reporter down to the diner after Tru? And haven’t some of his conversations with Tru been very much like the conversations she has with people during re-run days, where he spits out a series of right-on-the-money “guesses?”
That would be really interesting, Bricker. Might explain next week’s scenes. Hmm! It might also explain him leaving his jobs without a word…
Dude! That’s spot on. Niiiice. In fact, that’s so nice, I’m disappointed I didn’t think of it myself.
I pegged early on that Tru’s mother could do what she does and that Davis knew Tru’s mother. I still think that Davis was saved by the mother which is how he knew, but we’ll see when (if) they ever go back and explain how Davis got his information.
This is the first ep I’ve seen with Priestly so I don’t know about previous conversations he’s had with Tru, but didn’t he get the horses right because he knew horses? There was quite a bit of dialog in which he showed himself to be a good handicapper. As for sending the reporter, wasn’t he supposed to be at the morgue anyway for orientation or something?
I haven’t been watching this show regularly but might now that it’s the lead-in for Wonderfalls, but I kind of hope he’s not a re-liver. I have visions of a whole “evil leaper” scenario and it’s not pretty.
Yep - he does say some things that suggest he’s a good handicapper. But knowing both the first winner AND the 20:1 shot – if he’s that good a handicapper, he should be spending his days at the track. Nor was it off-hand. He deliberately sought out Harrison, wormed the track out of him, and practically dragged himself along.
In the end, the evidence is not compelling, and it could be that he’s a nosy, insightful, horse handicapper.
But I have my doubts.
“Evil leaper” came to mind as well. But it’s unclear if his purpose is benign or malignant.
And I could be way off.
I hope this show delivers a good lead-in to “Wonderfalls.”
