Yeah, she very clearly is not pumping her arms at all, as you would normally when running. It makes her look like she’s mincing along, and I found it rather narmy.
So, the scene with Jason being shot at, it wasn’t just a dream like I assumed? Hmm.
Ruffian, along the same lines I was wondering why she didn’t ask Hugo (before she realized he was the traitor) to help her use the angel or Jesus statues in the room as a makeshift battering ram. At least in the book the room they were in had real walls that made that a lot less doable than a fence would be.
And yes, IMHO Eric was lying when he said he didn’t care for Sookie. Do we really think he’d cry over his maker?
I think we’ll figure that out by next week, since he’ll have to have a conversation with Sookie. I assume he’s there for the same reason in the book, too, though. I don’t remember anything happening to Barry, so I’m not sure what happened there. Maybe we’ll figure that out next week too.
Each episode answers some questions and raises more. Nothing wrong with that kind of storytelling, as long as the big questions are answered, eventually. Some consistency helps too.
I have some questions. I’ve probably missed some simple explanations.
I don’t get why Newlin was so interested in Jason (except as a plot point). At first we thought it was because he was Sookie’s brother, but Newlin didn’t know that. So why all the extra attention, the quick promotion? Jason hadn’t proved himself before Newlin started treating him like he was special. Newlin admits he thinks Jason’s dumb, so what’s the deal?
What is Hugo’s motivation? Yeah, Isabel refuses to turn him, but she’s still with him and he still loves her. Plus, like Sookie told him, he’s been around vampires long enough to know the consequences of crossing them. (Pun intended.)
Sarah told Jason that Maryann can control the shifting. Why didn’t she keep Jason on the ground?
Why kill Daphne? She’s a follower even without being zombified, so why kill her?
As for older vampires being much stronger than newer vampires, I remember something like this from (I think) The Hunger, but you’d think at some point it would even out.
Loved Jessica and Hoyt. She’s gorgeous, and Hoyt is perfect for her. Liked the fight with Jason and Gabe – it seemed fairly realistic.
Where does the OP get idea of Godric and Sookie? Godric has plenty of motive on his own account to act against Gabe or anyone else in that organization.
I thought it was kind of hilarious when she said he had a death wish. She wasn’t there when he removed the artificial hip with his fucking teeth.
My wife and I laughed about that saying that Lafayette had one of the strongest wills to live we’d ever seen.
What idea about Sookie and Godric did you think I was getting at? What did you find implied by “So, Sookie and Godric”?
That they would become a couple. Sorry if I misunderstood.
Best moment of the season in my opinion, and well set up too.
Lafayette looked astoundingly good with makeup, a gold do-rag, cargo shorts, and Doc Martens. His little conversation in the “ladies” room with Arlene and Tara was hilarious!
Could someone be so kind as to tell me where I could find that song at the end of the episode? It’s seeming more illusive than I thought.
They seem to know here.
Your other questions I can’t answer, but I think I’ve got this one. At the end of season 1, Jason is believed to be guy killing all the vampire sympathizing women. The Light of Day crowd unofficially (and in a plausibly deniable fashion) supports Jason. That initial connection draws Jason in and leads to him being introduced to the Newlins in season 2 episode 1.
maniondl, thanks. That makes sense.
Anyone know how many episodes are left in this season?
I wouldn’t worry about your first concern. At least I hope they don’t go there. I agree that that would be awful.
The last thread I saw about this (the 7/26) said that this season the episodes are really uneven. Truer words were never spoken. Sometimes the acting is just awesome, but other times, the acting is horrible. I’ll be very glad when the Maryann plot line is over (please say it’ll be over?). I’m not a fan of how they’ve constructed it and I find it distracting, not interesting.
Why are people worried that Maryanne will turn out to be a God? Just a few seconds after Daphne threw out the word “God” she went on to explain that Maryanne isn’t a god but “the closest thing we’ll ever see” here on earth: a maenad.
Nope, didn’t intend that.
Yes, I agree. Followed up with a close second when Jason broke the American flag to use as a stake and held it up to Sarah Newlin’s heart and she looked like she had the lustiest just soaked her panties look on her face.
Question: Daphne tells Sam that “supes” have a natural defense against things like glamoring, the black-eye hypnosis Maryanne uses, etc. So, we’ve seen that these don’t work against Sookie, Sam, Daphne… and Andy Bellefleur. Is he a little something extra, without knowing it, or what?
Andy was mentioned upthread - and initially I thought this episode meant he had some sort of supe power as well, but he was sufficiently “black eyed” back at Merlot’s when he did his quiver dance (epilpetic on crack).
In this case, I think he stumbled on the scene midway - much like Tara and Eggs - and busted up the scene before he could be controlled.
Re Andy – mentioned in a thread from season one, by someone who’s read the books: He has faerie blood.
Wouldn’t that apply to Terry as well?
