True Blood; Jun-27-10

I think the point was that everybody overlooks that sort of behavior from the big football star (including the entire Sheriff’s department). And since Jason used to be the big football star, I think that goes a long way in explaining his sense of entitlement and general bewilderment that the world doesn’t really cater to him.

I loved this episode. Between Eric’s sweet fantasy of Sookie taking him (he’s such a big softie!) and showing up out of nowhere to rescue Lafayette, and then his obvious pain at watching the magistrate hurt Pam I just want to hug him. Though I had to laugh and laugh as Eric gave Lafayette instructions on how to be subtle and negotiate with people. I mean, really?

What the fuck was up with Alcine and Cooter fighting over Debbie? Jesus Christ. Are we supposed to question Alcine’s intelligence? Oh well, it doesn’t matter how smart he is because jesus christ that boy is fine. Oh my god, his body is perfect and guh. Just guh.

Speaking of hot guys, after Bill dumped Sookie, when he was talking to the King, I found him to be unbelievably hot for the first time ever. I’m not sure why, but he was really smoking hot.

I questioned Debbie’s intelligence, not to mention her vision. Is Cooter supposed to be attractive? If I was still reading bodice rippers, Alcide would be all the male characters.

I still think the series would be better if they didn’t write something for every single character in every single episode. Are they trying to please everyone? If you don’t like Tara or Lorena, you’ll keep watching because in a minute they’ll be back to Eric or Lafayette? It feels choppy. I’m just getting involved in one scene and zap, they’re off to somewhere else.

Pack Mentality - Cooter is presumably the Alpha male in this case.

Someone here suggested that Tommy’s father might be molesting him, so I was amused when the father said, “That boy makes my ass itch.” And that postmortem scene was interesting.

BTW, in the scene at the werewolf bar, in which Cooter transformed into a wolf and Alcide’s ex-girlfriend Debbie was laying in front of him, I was afraid for a moment that Cooter was going to have sex with her, as a wolf. That would have been too weird, even for this show.

At TWOP they think Tommy’s father is a molester. Maybe it’s in the books. After seeing him sitting next to Tommy in his undies and sporting a boner, it sure seems likely. It also doesn’t speak well of mom, who was in the room.

Cooter as alpha male. That makes sense.

I liked Alcide’s sister but groaned at yet another character to follow.

Nope. That plot line isn’t even in the books.

I wonder – to those of you who have not read the books, are you having trouble following all the different characters’ plot lines?

Because I have read the books, so all I have to keep track of is the new plot lines that weren’t in the books. Therefore, I’m not having any trouble, because about half of this isn’t new to me. The plot lines that are followed in the books are followed mostly faithfully – they don’t seem to mess around with that much. I suspect that’s because a lot of characters who were killed off or not fleshed out (heh. punny.) in the books were rich with potential. If I were a producer, I’d be tempted to run with that as well. Lafayette is a great example; I think the actor brought so much to the character that it would have been a damn shame to not have him after season one.

haven’t read the books - not really haveing any trouble following the plotlines - but there are a number of them that I have to go “i know they are setting something up here, I jsut don’t care yet”.

Tara’s transformation from Season 1 to now is almost frightning - I don’t care for the charector, but I think the actress is pulling off quite bit.

The other one I care less and less about is the redhead at the bar - the one tat was married to the serial killer.

They mentioned a bit about the timeline last nite - ahve we determined yet the number of days/weeks/months since Bill first showed up at the bar?

I’m not having any trouble following the plot lines. They aren’t exactly complicated. I could summarize what each character is doing and where and why is a single sentence (per character that is). Especially since many of the plots/characters intersect anyway.

I just finished the first two books and was shocked that Lafayette was the body in the car that in the series became Ms. Jeanette (I think that was her name- the ersatz excorcist anyway)

So glad they changed that. Also- I don’t think this is worth a spoiler- Tara is almost a nothing character in the book and she isn’t Lafayette’s cousin. She’s white, country, has few lines, and her boyfriend Eggs- the buff black ex-con in the series- is just a sort of pathetic middle class white guy in the books and isn’t developed plotwise at all. The Maenad is in the books but 90% of her TV plotline is original to the show. Eric/Bill/Sookie’s plotlines are about the same for the first two books/first two seasons are basically the same.

I was afraid they were going to do it wolfy style before he changed.

I agree that mean Bill is hotter than bland Bill.

O Eric, I adore you more every week.

I hope there is more Lafayette/Eric scenes, they are funny together.

Have you guys seen this odd video? Snoop Dogg made a cheesy “Oh Sookie” video. It’s very WTF? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8tODhvb47s

No new thread?

I’ve heard this complaint in some reviews of the show, but I haven’t read the books, and I’m having no trouble at all following the show. Nor do the “large” number of seperate storylines detract from my enjoyment.

I kind of wish True Blood could just become the Eric & Lafayette show.

Considering how touchy people get about spoilers, it would probably best not to talk about new episodes in a thread marked for a certain one. If I was an episode behind could see being annoyed to learn there are spoilers for 7/11 in a thread that’s supposed to be about 6/27…so maybe one of us ought to start a new thread, huh?
