True or false

False, in fact, I always considered it slightly creepy.

TNP agrees with me that the Hershey’s Kiss Christmas Bell commercial is just annoying.

Well, I like it, but I love all things Christmas. I do think they may have dragged it out a few too many times, but as long as it sells…
The Next Poster has received an orange in his/her stocking at some point in time.

I’ve got oranges on more than one occasion.

TNP prefers peanuts to almonds

True. I’m not a peanut fan but will eat the occasional peanut M&M, eat them in Asian food, that’s about it. But eat handfuls of almonds, no thanks.

TNP prefers grape jam to orange marmalade.

True

TNP likes peanut butter and jelly on toast.

True. Great breakfast with a cup of coffee.

TNP has never lived on a dirt road.

True. (My wife recalls that a nearby crosstreet to her road, on Staten Island, used to be a dirt road, when she was younger. Not my experience in Jersey.)

TNP has lived (not vacation) in a beachfront house or a houseboat.

False. Not even close.

TNP has, this holiday season, already sung at least a portion of a holiday song aloud.

True. The store I work in is now opened Saturday nights from 6 to 11 p.m. When we opened the door last Saturday night, about a hundred people came in. A co-worker made a joke about “crazy holiday shoppers,” and I sang the entire song The Holi-Daze.

The co-worker (and everyone listening) loved it!

TNP has lived through at least one major hurricane

You left out TNP part. The thread will die here if you don’t come back.

I added an edit: TNP has lived through at least one major hurricane

Thanks!

and False. Never been close to a big one.

TNP has been close to a tornado at least once. Real close.

False. Storms with high winds and rain but no tornado.

TNP has been in a blizzard.

I had front row seats to the great blizzards of 1967 and 1978

TNP has owned their own pair of roller skates

True, a cousin handed down a much-used pair to me when I was about ten years old. Unfortunately, after being banned from the hardwood floors in the house, the only “paved” place to use them was our 8’ long front porch. The driveway, other walkways, and the road were all gravel. Fortunately there was a large azalea bush to cushion my frequent falls off the edge. None of these fancy roller blades you young’uns use either - they were real roller skates with a key!

TNP has owned a surfboard.

Yes, oddly enough. I bought it from a yard sale for $10 (negotiated down from $20). I made precisely one attempt to stand on it while I was in a swimming pool. I had all the grace of a drunken duck and I think I sprained my face in the attempt. Took it home with me, used a jigsaw to cut a shark bite shaped notch into it and turned it into wall art. I ended up selling it for $20 when I moved out.

TNP has never swam in the ocean.

False. I’ve done both the Atlantic and Pacific.

TNP has had a choking-on-food/coughing/sputtering/went-down-the-wrong-pipe episode in a public place.

True, I somehow inhaled some cole slaw at a barbecue restaurant. My FIL actually got up from his chair to help/give me the Heimlich maneuver but the slaw dislodged itself before he got that far. Lesson learned: don’t eat stupid side dishes when there’s good brisket on the table!

TNP at least occasionally makes barbecue on his own smoker.

False; I don’t own a smoker. I do use barbecue sauce on chicken I bake.

The next player has an unused gift card in their wallet.

True, but I’ll get around to using it any year now.

TNP would rather dust the house than do dishes
