I thought/hoped that what we saw tonight would happen.
Trump has been very clear that he doesn’t want to listen to anything his handlers are telling him about what he should or shouldn’t say, and sources said he did basically no debate prep. So he just went in there under the assumption that he would just answer ramble on like he does in his rallies and in his interview which are always with sympathetic sources.
The problem of course is that what he says is targeted at his usual audience rally who know what to expect and love him for it. But to anyone outside of that audience he sounds unhinged.
As I said a couple of times Harris absolutely nailed her expressions throughout the debate while Trump was talking. Studious at times, subtle eye rolls when needed as compared to Trumps giant ones, satisfied smile when she knew she had him and then my favorite, a look of concern in his direction as if to say this poor person he should really be in a home where they can care for him properly.

I can be wrong. But I suggested failure of the Harris campaign to ask for multiple debates was just a matter of timing. It indeed was:
Harris did very well and I’m confident she would do well again.
If you like demagoguery, Trump did well. I hope most Americans do not.
I’m as Taylor-Swift-clueless as it is possible to be, but she holds enormous sway over young people. Her very thoughtful, clear statement may have quite an impact.
