Maybe he thinks he will be competing in the 1968 Olympics? Who knows, track and field might be his strong suit? It sure isn’t business or politics and he does seem to be very concerned about civil rights (mostly of wealthy white men- but culture wars do seem quite important to him). Perhaps he is just showing solidarity with the group he has done more for than anyone since President Lincoln.

I’d call that “The Understatement of the Year.” The Republican Party is now a “Cult of Personality,” automatically following whatever random thought dribbles out of his mouth, without regard for the previous thing he said, let alone the principles they used to stand for.
Indeed. The Republican party policy platform is “Whatever fell out of Trump’s mouth in the past 10 minutes.”
