Trump-haters: What things do you *agree* with Trump on?

One other thing I half-agree with Trump on is that the United States is indeed overdue for a trillion-dollar infrastructure overhaul (a bill that he never got passed as president.) The power grids, airports, trains, bridges, highways, etc. could all use a real face-lift. The problem is that, with a guy like Trump in power, there is no guarantee that such a bill wouldn’t be laden with corruption and useless pork-barrel spending and waste.

Infrastructure isn’t a “Trump thing” though. That’s like saying you agree that food is good or sex in enjoyable.

Moderating:

But not the point of this thread, so please refrain in the future.
What you posted is pretty much a thread-shit.

Yes, Trump only talks about Infrastructure. And only because he knows improving it is popular. He’ll never actually do anything about it unless you consider his ballroom and triumphal arch “infrastructure.”

The standard for Iran “behaving” was that they do not develop nuclear weapons. While I agree that I don’t want Iran to have nuclear weapons, I feel it would be hypocritical for the United States to declare this as a fixed moral standard for how proper nations interact properly with the world.

This is more of a realpolitik situation where Iran is a country that is generally hostile to the United States and its allies, so we don’t want Iran to get stronger. And the United States and its allies were strong enough compared to Iran that we were able to pressure them into accepting limitations we set.

Relative to this thread, the Obama administration handled these hostile negotiations well and the Trump administration is handling them poorly.

Is it “infrastructure week” again?

He was never serious about that.

Bingo!

Moderating:

Well this is turning into a hijack, I was hoping it would stop on its own. This is not an infrastructure thread, so lets drop it now.

Ironically, “Do what we say or we’ll bomb the shit out of you” is the language of international bad actors and rogue states. Which is one reason why America is increasingly being treated as one or both by the rest of the world. And we owe that very much to Trump right now.

The Trump administration just suspeded Microsoft, Adobe, Infosys, and other firms from the Department of Labor’s permanent labor certification process (PLC). The PLC is the last step for employers who file for permanent residency for their H-1B employees, and employers at those firms are unable to file those petitions for their employees.

I have mixed feelings about this. H-1Bs are great for ensuring foreign workers bring their technical skills to the United States instead of going elsewhere which is good for employers and the economy in the long run. But I do think a lot of companies misuse the H-1B process.

If people actually supported his war, they would not be complaining so loudly about the price of gasoline.

NM, saw note.

Bit tricky to deal with “what do you agree about” w/o getting spun off on the whys of the issue.

Meeting with the North Korean leader did not accomplish much, but was worth a try.

I certainly agree with him on this.

AP has a story about Una Sola Cosa (“Just One Thing”), a Spanish-language radio program in Pennsylvania. Evidently, callers are invited to share just one thing they like about Trump.

I hope they have lots more material. This segment seems like it’d be a bit thin.

That was real?

I honestly assumed it was ai.

I’ve given this much, much more thought than in deserves. I do eat well done steaks, but only cheap “simmer steaks” (blade cut, I think). Doing that to say, a rib eye is wrong. If I eat at McDonalds, it means I have a hang over. I don’t play golf; given what I know about the game, I might cheat at it, so that’s a maybe. I try to avoid making threats I can’t back up, so his entire foreign policy is out.

BUT I FOUND SOMETHING! If my dad had left me with 400,000,000 dollars, and I was a total loser, I would consider paying Stormy Daniels 300,000 for a blow job. Now, there are still a couple key differences, in that I believe in things like “consent” (affirmative, enthusiastic, and ongoing. I’m old. We have weird rules). But I’ll give him that one.

how’s that workin’ out for you? We can, of course, look forward to sending you the bill for the war you seem pretty enthusiastic about, as well as the resulting fuel, food, et al increases, right?

Article here in Foreign Policy addressing exactly this, and they make the point that virtually all wars are ended through negotiation. Even Japan in WWII, despite the “unconditional surrender” requirement. Not a free link, unfortunately:
