One that hasn’t been mentioned yet, but it’s been used a lot in the media, especially in the last month or two it seems:
Unhinged
I like it because it evokes a palpable sense of brokenness– the doors are falling off. The wheels are off the wagon. The train is off the rails.
But it implies it was the result of an accident, or accumulated wear-and-tear. Every vile, degenerate thing about Trump is intentional; I’m not going to give him a pass with a word that doesn’t connote intentionality.
I’m surprised “evil” hadn’t gotten more mentions. He actively and intentionally makes the world a worse place. He delights in hurting people.
Or, criminal levels of neglect and malfeasance. Not an unavoidable accident that merits just a shrug and and an ‘oopsie’.
Anyway, googling says that according to Oxford Languages, the definition is:
