This; it’s not the idea of a bruised hand from shaking that’s implausible, it’s the fact that the bruising is in the only part of the hand not involved in a handshake.
Might as well blame a leg injury on a handshake.
ETA: This is a very old story but interesting.
Senile purpura, which causes bruises that appear on sun-damaged skin, is due to “subcutaneous bleeding that occurs because of small vessel rupture caused by a weak connection between the skin and the underlying tissue,” López said. It’s a common condition in elderly people.
A cross-sectional study from South Korea found that 14% of 193 older adults surveyed reported current senile purpura, and another 15.5% had a history of it. Among those with the condition, lower arms and hands were the most common locations (96.5%), and more than 50% blamed minor trauma.
My wife’s grandma has the same kind of bruising. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything except he’s really old. Covering it up is probably just vanity, and fear of showing any kind of weakness.
Why not really? The palm off the hand is well-padded with muscle, even with Trump, while the back of the hand is just thin skin over bones. Repeated thumb pressure from firm handshakes can easily injure someone with fragile skin.
I had forgotten about this, though being young and very interested in the weird, horrifying and/or just plain odd, I was a regular visitor to their fine 90s style website.
Because while he has stubby fingers, he still has large hands overall, and there’s no way to fit your thumb around that far, even if your fingers are long.
Hubster suffers some pretty extreme bruising all over his arms and hands. Most of the time we have no idea where they come from. It’s not just regular bruising either they go from deep purple to almost black, and they are often very large. If I had a bruise that extreme I’d know how I’d gotten it. Two months ago all he took was baby aspirin, so I’ve figured that’s what trump’s bruising is.
Trump claimed to take large amounts of aspirin daily (more than the recommended amount, maybe enough to be harmful over a long enough period of time) so that could also have something to do with it.
“Most people without known cardiovascular disease like a prior heart attack, stroke, or blockages in major arteries, do not need aspirin,” Dr. Ann Marie Navar, a preventive cardiologist at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, told us. “This will increase their risk of bleeding problems – not just bruising but bleeding in the stomach or gut.”
I don’t think it’s the crush - that takes a lot of grip strength (which I seriously doubt he has). I’ve read her likes the pull - grab and pull with his bodyweight (of which he has plenty) to put the other person off balance.
I also notice his hand looked a lot healthier back then. Either that was before whatever is causing his hands to look rotten kicked in, or they had a much better makeup artist.
I live with essential tremor, and it has progressed so far that, even with deep brain stimulation (look it up) that’s how I was drinking from my water bottle at work last night.
That said, if he’s dying, what the FUCK is taking him so long?
