Starting this thread in the Pit as I imagine there is little substantive discussion to be had and most of the commentary will be along the lines of wishing Trump a swift journey to Hell.
First and foremost, apologies if I am crying wolf here. However, I will remind everyone that the boy who cried wolf wasn’t wrong about the wolf, he was just early. And I am well aware that if I watch one Youtube video on a particular subject, Youtube will do its best to feed me similar videos for the rest of the day. I am also aware that these channels are rage-bait, recreational outrage editorial channels that should not be mistaken for news coverage. What I am seeing is the equivalent of people poking the sharpest objects they can find into Trump voodoo dolls. And I keep waking up to headlines that the Grim Reaper has taken someone else but not Trump’s bitch ass… yet.
Nonetheless, I have seen multiple stories over the past day about Trump’s rapidly degrading health. We know from his own Ministry of Truth that he has “chronic venous insufficiency” which they assure us is common in old men and nothing to worry about. But we can see things with our eyes too. We can see that Trump has bruises on both of his hands and they’re using drywall spackle or some shit to cover it up. Trump is favoring one leg and walks weirdly. He’s rambling just as much as ever, including recently calling on Gov. Christy Whitman, whom he thinks is Gretchen Whitmer. Oh, and he’s got cankles. Cankles so profound they form a muffin top in his shoes. Between those and the bone spurs I wonder how he even gets shoes onto his feet! I guarantee you this does not happen unassisted and that has to be one of the worst jobs in the world, second only to whoever has to change his shitty diaper.
Now, having said all of this, it is entirely possible that this accursed son of bitch might live for another hundred years. Who knows what kinds of dark alchemy is being worked right now to keep him going? But it looks like the Grim Reaper might finally be sharpening his scythe and this will be one draft that Donald cannot dodge. Let us hope. Let us pray to all gods great and small. May today be the day we get the headline we’ve all been waiting for.
Hard disagree, for practical reasons. If he just switches off, his supporters get to play it as an American tragedy and Vance gets a honeymoon. If he deteriorates and slowly collapses, his image of invulnerability disintegrates, and the party will shred itself behind him trying to jockey for succession.
Think of the Skeksis gathered around the decrepit emperor’s bed, waiting for him to finally crumble.

No matter how much makeup he uses, there is no getting around the fact that he is 79 years old. Given his lifestyle (Big Macs, fries, Diet Coke, KFC, etc.), he doesn’t have much time left. Either keeling over and expiring quickly, or lingering on life support in a hospital, is fine by me.
I don’t wish anybody ill, but I can make exceptions.
He needs to exit left in disgrace, or at minimum with his record of governance discredited by those who elected him.
If he leaves as force majeure’ with “his work undone” and a martyr to the cause, followed by Vance parachuting in under the 25th, then it will get a whole lot worse and be even more problematic to recover.
There are ways in which Vance is worse than Trump, but the good news about him as replacement is that he commands no loyalty. A good chunk of the Trump cult won’t transfer over to Vance.

Lots of suffering would be nice. Leaving in disgrace would be even nicer, but I’ve given up hoping for it, just as I’ve given up hoping that he will face any sort of justice for the monumental evil he has perpetrated.
Now, I just wish his demise to be as public and unattractive as possible. I beg whatever gods may be that Trump deteriorates obviously and in ways that cannot be covered up or minimized. Because you know, you just know that when Trump’s filthy soul departs his disease ridden body, the conspiracy theorists will be working triple overtime to pin his “murder” on some poor Democrat and stir his supporters to outrage and violence.
If Trump dies, fast or slow, Vance will be president. Other than him being impeached (which won’t happen), there’s no legal framework to keep him out of office. So having Trump die slowly just gives Cujel the Clever a transition period. Better to parachute his unqualified ass directly into the position and watch him drown. The succession wars will happen either way.
This, exactly. Vance lacks the charisma of Trump, so MAGA will be wary; and he lacks the backbone of Trump, so other agencies that he tries to order around will be wary. Trump Loyalists now in government positions are/were loyal to Trump, but not necessarily to Vance, so he may have problems corralling them into the shape he wants.
Should Trump, die, it ain’t gonna be pretty, but stock up on popcorn. It’s gonna be entertaining.
Yes, the whole Franco treatment, with peritonitis (like Heydrich too) and successive extirpation and amputation of more and more septic and gangrenous parts, and more and more machines activated and stuck into him to keep him barely going, until one day we can say he is still dead, and the day after too, and the next, and so ad infinitum.
