Trump is dying

What’s with all the folksy hay bales on site? So, cornball and blatantly sucking up to the rurals.

Miller’s idea, maybe. It’s a celebration of White People!!!

Ignorant, rural (bigoted) white people at that. Not those sinful edumacated libruls from the cities.

Yep. Tractors, too. For virtuous folks, not them nasty intulectchools.

He would have done a better job of it if the tractor had baled him out.

It IS a 3020!

The interview took place on a working farm as an adjunct to Trump’s roundtable discussion with local farmers. Hopefully they were respectful of Trump’s explanation that their inability to buy enough fertilizer because of the Iran war is just a temporary blip, and that they should be pleased with what he’s done with the reflecting pool.

BTW, it looked he was not bracing himself on the interviewer, but patting her on the shoulder, even though she had the gall not to smile at him.

I think that might be the part where he called her ‘darling’.

Oh for fucks sake.
I’m not much better after sitting on a low chair for 40 minutes and he has 15 years on me.
Of course I’m I aren’t claiming to be some paragon of perfect health. Or meeting the expectations of American presidential virility. Australian healthcare is good but I suspect what is available to 45/47 exceeds.

My brother in Discourse, please mark such posts with a sarcasm tag. I thought for a moment that a Trump supporter had wandered in here and I was preparing to say some non-neighbourly things.

I take Trump’s inability to get up out of the chair and hurry out of there as a good sign. Various people have described his actions as “running away” but there was certainly no running involved. I bet he couldn’t run if there was a shark behind him and a little girl carrying a bag of Big Macs in front of him. Can’t tie his own shoes, can’t wipe his own ass and can’t answer a simple question about where this supposed fraud is. From now until the end of time, every question from every reporter should be “where’s the proof of voting fraud in California? Is it with the Epstein files?”

You may wish to do a sit-to-stand test as an indicator of your health then. I want my fellow Dopers to stay healthy (while Trump is welcome and indeed even encouraged to ignore any and all medical advice that tells him he is anything other than perfect). Sit-to-stand is discussed upthread but here’s a refresher on it, including how people who score low on the test are five to six times more likely to die over a six-year period:

I suspect this is the only reason Trump is alive right now.

But what if the shark had a boat battery?

Having made a near full recovery from a stroke in Oct-25, my performance in a 30 second sit-to-stand test passes all the appropriate benchmarks.
My performance in a sitting-sitting-sitting-sitting-sitting-sitting-sitting-sitting-sit-to-stand takes a couple of steps to recover.

I’m watching the cringe inducing interview and trump looks like he’s gonna stroke out (if only). Kristen Welker is going at him maybe a little bit stronger than most (extremely low bar) but still not enough that his face should turn beet red. All other journalists should take note that it is possible to get under his skin and the world won’t end if you challenge him. Grow some journalistic integrity balls already.

This is wonderful to hear! I also had a stroke a few years ago and I was very lucky to have not lost anything major to it. Then again, I have mostly heeded the advice of my doctors. Trump likely does not listen to them and probably thinks he knows better than they do. Although it is kind of hilarious that he’ll sit down for a MoCA anytime because they’ve tricked him into thinking it’s an IQ test and they always give him a lollipop after.

Fair enough, I am still in my 40’s and I don’t spring out of my seat with peak efficiency after a long car ride. But if it sounds like we are over-assuming Trump’s health problems, that is because this thread is a Trump-shaped voodoo doll and we stick pins in every chance we get. It’s our way of staying hopeful for a better future.

I’m with @penultima_thule. While it isn’t the most graceful and athletic get up out of a chair, it is nowhere near “barely get out of a chair”.

I wish we would all stop talking about how he is near death, his polls are at all time records lows, his dementia is taking over, etc. He ain’t going nowhere. US is stuck with him till 2028.

This is understandable.
But as indicated in my first post to this thread #8/2934 the fundamental flaw in the concept that 45/47 deceasing mid-term will be to your better future were he succeeded under the 25th by a spry fundamentalist white Christian populist paleoconservative with an agenda and in a hurry.

Hold your noses, limit the damage, win the mid-terms, then 2028 and begin the ascent to whatever global status you can recover.

Good god, man!

My mother was very firm about “good posture” and hence, even when relaxed - as I am now on an appropriate chair behind an appropriate desk - I type with a straight back.

Mr. Trump appears like the hunchback Quasimodo* (the original Victor Hugo version, not the Lloyd Webber version) except it appears his head weight is the only thing steering him forward.

ETA: or a dashboard bobble-head ornament

Is that one any better than the Menken & Schwartz version?

If we are lucky. I’m losing my faith in cholesterol.

Pretty accurate so far!

It’s really not that. If Donald were frankly and openly using a wheelchair, for example, most people wouldn’t see that as worthy of criticism. (See comments on Texas Governor Greg Abbott: his actions and political views are roundly condemned, but no decent person says ‘he’s not fit to serve due to not being able to walk.’)

No, the reason to criticize Donald for his clear physical limitations is mostly that he and his regime lie about his health so blatantly and contemptuously. He’s ‘lost a step’ by any account, but they won’t admit that.

And the other reason to criticize him is that like all fascists, he himself equates strength/mobility/vigor with Virtue and with being God’s Choice to be our ruler. The discrepancy between what we see and what he demands we pretend to see excites our disgust.

I agree and am very much hoping that this catches on. Donald NEEDS to be asked, again and again, for evidence that backs his many mendacious claims. (If it’s being asked for evidence that makes him explode, then…too bad.)

I just hope that Comcast, owner of NBC News, doesn’t have business before the Regime. (Prospective mergers or such.) If it does, Kristen Welker will be looking for work before long.
